I got this one yesterday from PA .This was my second try with these scopes . The first one wouldn't focus at 10 yards and was a bear to turn anything on it. This one looked different. The elevation knob was without cover and clicked nicely and can be rezeroed . The windage has a cover and is a nice finger adjustable semi-target knob , Looking through it I had to adjust the rear focus a couple of turns to get the image in focus , but I was able to get both the crosshairs and image into focus at the same time . I put the Hawke on my R9 that had been wearing an old workhorse Barska airgun scope . Sight-in went OK; and soon I was marking the front objective on a piece of tape, I put on it for actual yardages . Past 35 yards I found it was hard to focus at the same point each time , to enable the Hawke to be useful in field target ranging. As I was attempting to shoot a Gamo knock down target out at 50 yrds , something happened ; my poi changed ; I started hitting high and left . The R9 had dieseled a couple of times so , I cleaned the rifle and started shooting dots at 30 yrds . Maybe I should say, trying to shoot dots . I would dial in my POI and after maybe 6-8 shots , my POI would change . Thinking It couldn't be the scope , after all everybody loves the Hawke scopes and they are made specifically for airguns . so; I actually tore down my R9 cleaned out the lube , relubed and installed the tophat , I had removed last week . After putting it all back together , I sighted in and started shooting dots again at 30 yards . Nope , nothing changed , My POI was still moving around on me . I put the rifle up for the evening and got it back out this morning to try again . I dial in at 30 yards and after about 10 shots all inside the dot , my next 3 were and inch to the left and a little high . DANG IT !!!!! I have the worst luck with scopes and springers , and I don't even own a magnum springer . I called PA for A RMA number to return the scope for a refund and Lisa was very nice about the whole deal and even sent me a paid return label for the scope. Kudos to PA . BTW I put my old Barska back on , 6 clicks of elevation and I was back on at 30 yards and knocking them out with the consistency iIhad before. The Hawkes may work for some , but IMO unless you go highend with scopes, IMO they are all a hit or miss deal . kirby

Sorry to hear that David. After all you did give the Hawke a second chance...Sad I did forget to tell you the other day that when I ordered my first of two Hawk MapPro Hawk scopes this month that Kevin at Straightshooters told me they had to send all there Hawke Airmax 4-12x40, back last month. It seems the guy who is supposed to apply a tad of loctite on the final assy, had missed doing it on quite a number of them..Sad They had customers sending them back to them because of the very same problem you were having. He talked to the man at Hawk about it and they sent Kevin a fresh batch of the ones that had been corrected or fixed properly.

With that said, I own 4 Hawk scopes and am expecting another one tomorrow with my new TX-200. All of them perform excellent and have clear glass. Hope you can come down to see me next week so you can take a look at my Hawk scopes. Never had a problem at all with the Hawks. But I think you are one of those guys who always gets the defective ones or bad glass..Sad
