SWIFT 687m 4.5x14x44 Review

Now having owned this particular scope for around 10 months I think it would be safe to say I can give this scope the very short review it deserves.First and foremost it IS NOT AG RATED .That being said,I found little I liked about this scope from day1.I mounted it on a(very accurate) tuned DIANA 34.UTG mount,Sportsmatch rings.It's a heavy scope for what it provides.At the higher power settings,regardless HOW the scope was mounted it "fisheyed''.In the woods under the most perfect of conditions it provides very poor light gathering capabilities.Even with a sun-shade it just quite frankly never really shined.At twenty meters on 6x indoors was all it was REALLY even OK at.As I stated earlier in this review,the 687m is NOT AG RATED.And last night  while punching paper@20 yds  it did what it should have done 10 months earlier,it gave up the ghost(around 1000 rounds later).The Mil-Dot reticle is destroyed.Even the fact it isn't AG rated any powder thinking about purchasing this model of scope might look elsewhere before spending 215.00$'s.I own much cheaper and more expensive scopes then this model and they all(including a tired weaver K4)provide better performance across the board then 687m.Just my take.

yikes!  sorry to see that money gone!  With all the scope-eater talk on this forum, I don't think I could be comfortable spending more than $50-60 on one..

Bummer!  And thanks, I've wondered about the Swift scopes, but not enough to buy one.  Especially when the same money could have gotten you a Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32.  Yes, 32, and even then, it's at least as good as the 40 and 44mm scopes I've had for light transmission.  Also, it's spring gun rated, and the guy I got that info from at Burris sounded like he really knew what that meant.  Did I mention it's also small and light?  Under 12" and 15 oz.  If you haven't already replaced the Swift, consider the Burris.  I don't think you'll regret it.  Later.

i had a swift 6-18x50 (bought from Marty at Silver Streak Sports, no longer in business?) on a pro-elite .22 for 7 years now, that was when that Swift model was suggested by straightshooters as a medium recoil scope. i was wondering about their new Swift SRP sur-lok 669M-SL, but now after reading your review i have doubt in Swift. i read that their quality is no longer what it used to be.
