Gamo Hunter Dome .177

What a waste of money. I'm breaking in a new .177 B-12 and trying all different kind of pellets. I had an open tin of Gamo Hunter Domes that grouped really well and I thought "Cool" an inexpensive pellet that works well. So, during my yearly visit to Bass Pro Shop I'll pick some up. It's a 120 mile round trip drive to Bass Pro Shop for me but I still go about once a year just to check things out and window shop. I bought 3, 250 pellet tins of the Gamo's about $4 per tin. Well, my dime sized 5 shot groups spread to, I can't hit the broad side of a barn groups. Two pellets touching and three spread out 5 inches all over the place. Returning $12 worth of pellets does not justify the cost of 120 miles worth of gas.

They don't call them "chamo's" for nothing!!!!!  LOL's Did you pick up a tin of RWS SuperDomes??!?!? Much better pellet from my experience. Good luck, tjk

hunters are good in some guns and sux in some there ok in my blackhawk and in my 800 mag the pellet i would stay away from gamo master points very very horrible :0

I did pick up a 500 tin of RWS Superdomes and you are right, they group very well in the B-12. Beeman FTS and Crosman Premier Heavies in the box shoot good too. I think it was you tjk that mentioned about the trigger half pull trick. Well I went back to doing that and I get more consistant groups doing it, so many thanks for that. I really like this little airgun it's a lot of fun to shoot paper with. The brown truck came today with a Tasco Golden Antler 3-9X32 AO scope, so I'm taking the Tasco non AO off and putting on the new one. The B-12 is still smoking some but I'm surprised at well it groups with the right pellet.  Thanks to everyone for your help.

I've had good success with the hunters but some shooters like em and some don't. Ed

My 22. Crosman Nitro really likes the Gamo Hunters. I must have got a bad batch of the .177s. They have a different looking head and they have hanging chads on the end of the skirts. When ya stand them up they lean in crazy angels. The old batch look and group well.

I've noticed that the Gamo  hunters have a different shape to them now. The new tins I got recently are not the same as the ones in the older tin. Maybe you used the older version and got good groups, but the new version just doesn't group the same?

I agree with Shadow.  I get good results with them in all of my guns.
Randino, I must agree with you as well.  I noticed the new ones look different, the Match as well.  I've emailed Gamo a couple of times with my distaste.  I recommend those of us that use Gamo pellets do the same.

The new Gamo Hunters in the new tins are not the same.The old ones were great and $3.50 less then the new JUNK. China striks again

I recently had the same problem with these. They shot very well in the garage at 35 ft. Hole in hole. Same with the RWS superdomes JSB and HN Barracuda match all shot hole in hole. SO I went with the Gamo hunters and RWS as primary. When I stretched my ranges out to 30 yds they were both horrible! Gamos were everywwhere and RWS would not get tighter than 2 in groups. After about 2 hours of trying and checking all the scope and stock screws I gave up. I grabbed the JSB and HN pellets and thank god I did ! Went back down and groups were dead on. I am sighted in for 25 yds with the JSB pellets and 1/2 mil of elevation for the HN.

I went down today and shot out to 60 yds on steel targets. I hit 3 out of 5 shots at that range on pig target that is 2 in by 1.5 inches. I am very impressed. 30 yd groups were less than 1/2 in after shooting for almost an hour and a half in 36 degree wheater. My trigger finger was numb so It was time to go.

Go with the JSB or HN. I have 4 more tins on the way. My kids get the rest of my pellets. Thanks to everybody on here talking about JSB pellets. That was a big reason I decided to give them a try.

This is interesting because in my Gamo Whisper the Hunters are awesome along with cphp's.  But the master points are actually horrid.  Its very odd
