Calling Old Sheridan Experts....

Hello,

I am in the process of restoring / rebuilding an Old Sheridan pump .20 cal rifle. It belongs to my dad who has three of them, all of the same vintage, and all identical to one another. The gun I am working on is in the worst shape of the three, it is not in the best shape, but I believe it is fixable. The gun would pump, however it would not hold air, the valve leaked and with each pump, it would overcome the valve and leak out of the breech or muzzle. I have dismantled the rifle, including the valve stem, seals and springs. I had to make a tool to remove the valve stem retainer.

I would like to purchase a rebuild kit that includes all new seals and necessary parts to get the gun in working order again. Does anyone know a good place to purchase such a kit with some knowledgeable staff to answer detailed questions? I have found a kit that may work at pyramid air.com, but will have to call them to be sure if it is the proper kit.

Information on the gun itself is very vague. All I know is that it is a Sheridan .20 cal, It has no model number or serial number stamped on the gun, it has a thumb hold down safety, it was probably purchased in the late 40's or early 50's.

mac 1 will definitly have it it might have cost u less to send it to mac1 cause i have a 69 ben franklin and they said send them the action and they r changing the seals and bolt and im paying 65 dollars . just an ideal ...jorge

I rebuilt my '65 model Blue Streak with the pre-1995 kit from Pyramid air. It worked just fine. The valve guts from yours look just like the guts from mine (at least from the little picture)!

Once you get the old Streak running again you might want to try feeding it some JSB pellets. My '65 really likes them.  Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the information and the link to the article. Yep, that is the item from pyramyd air that I was contemplating. In fact, the picture that is uploaded to their website is mine.....

Thanks for the tip on the pellets, I will definitely try those when I get one of the guns up and running.

The reason he has three old Sheridans is because one of them was his and the other two were his brothers guns. I guess Grandpa give them all to dad because my uncles did not want them and dad has had intentions of fixing them for years, just never got around to it.
I cannot wait to get dad's old gun up and running. I have a five year old son, How cool will it be to have three generations of boys share and enjoy the same air rifle. Shoot, if we take good care of it, it may be around for four generations or more.
