Hello, all. How are you?

I have a Gamo Big Cat 1200. My first spring-piston. What is a reasonably priced (< $100) scope? I am looking for a variable power (3-9), Mil-Dot with fine reticules, adjustable turrets, and that will leave no doubt about handling a springer recoil. I fear that the illuminated ones would be too thick especially with an increase in the setting. I could be wrong. I have heard some good things about Leapers. What would you buy in that price range? Also, a good mount (1 piece; low to mid height)? I hate not being able to put my hands on something before buying online. I know you get what you pay for but, there has to be a solid performer at $80-100.

I appreciate you advice. I am getting sensory overload (brands, models, prices) with all the options out there. I ask you because I am sure you all have tried just about everything and your experience will save me wasting my money and being frustrated. LOL.

Thank you.

Stephen, get either Leapers 3-9x32 for around $45 or 3-9x40 from Leapers as well. The latter one is slightly larger and most likely brighter. As for the mount, the one piece Leapers/accushot in medium height will do just fine. I've owned both those scopes and was quite happy with them. Both the scope and mount can be had from opticsplanet.com - great prices and free shipping on most items.

hope this helps

I have the Leapers 3-9X50 AO model with the Accushot One-Piece High Mount to go with it. After almost 15K shots it's still functioning quite well. If you're a paper puncher this is sufficient enough but if you want a versatile one I would recommend the 3-12X44 AO type. This can help you bring down any varmint within the 10 - 65 yardage distance using a Big Cat. HTH.
