Yep another air gun...Smiley I have had my eye on the X20 for about a year now. Since Steve from Archer Air Guns posted his new line of Stoegars the itch to order one increased 10 fold...Smiley I pretty much know what to expect as far as the power plant goes. It is basiclaly built the same as the original Gamo's before the poly barrels and plastic triggers. But I am one that has to know exactly what is under the hood..Smiley So whne I recieve it and look under the hood I will give you all a blow by blow of my impression and some pictures.

and are you going with the wood or the synthetic stock?Huh

for the price they sure seem to be very nice guns!!! as soon as I get back to work I will be needing to make a decicion between an stoegar or powerline1000 or quest or rs2 same general price rangeLOL

Michael, I go with wood when ever I can. Personally I think a wooden stock air gun shoots much nicer than a synthetic, but there again I have a couple of high end PCP's that are synthetic but they are high quality synthetic stocks and are not hollow like the Spanish and Chinese guns are...Smiley But then again I have a few Gamo's with synthetic stocks that I would not part with...Smiley

As time progressed in my air gun hobby/sport I have become more picky with what stocks I like on my springers..

    Gene,

I hope that you will enjoy your new Stoeger X20 and we'll all look forward to your report!

Like you, I prefer wood stocks to plastic - purely for looks in my case. And I find the X20 much easier to shoot than the X50 - at least so far until I get more time on the X50s. So far, I'm finding that the X50s diesel a little less (although the X20s we're tested so far are not at all bad) and the X50 triggers are coming-in at about 4 lbs pull weight, compared to about 6 lbs for the X20. The X20s are typically shooting at a steady 900fps+ with CPLs, at least in my testing. So far, I like what I'm seeing with The Stoeger X10, X20 and X50 models.

Your X20 will ship out tomorrow.

The Stoeger X10 and X20 models are essentially the same, mechanically. Same "shooting parts", performance, same trigger etc. Both are rated by the manufacturer at 1,000 fps with lead pellets. I'm seeing a very consistent 900 fps+ with CPLs.

Differences are primarily in the stock and scope combinations.

The Stoeger X10 has a simple sporter stock. The X20 has a "Monte Carlo" style design offering an improved cheek weld. The X10 is available with a choice of wood or black synthetic stocks. The X20 offers wood, black synthetic and the "Realtree" pattern synthetic stocks.

Another difference is in the scope supplied with the combos. X10 models are fitted with a 4 x 32 scope with two-piece mounting rings. The X20 has a 3-9 x 40AO scope, together with a much stronger one-piece scope mount.

All the Stoeger X10, X20 and X50 combos that we have are fitted with pre-mounted, pre-sighted scopes. The X10 scope is not AO and is factory-focused for 100 yards which gives a very soft image at 10 yards. But for the models sold by Archer Airguns, I re-focus the scope so that it gives excellent sharpness down to 10 yards. Much better for airgun use!

    I hope this helps...

Steve, the X20 is my size air rifle..Smiley Even though I am a big man these size air guns fit me well and I am very confortable shooting them. My worn out shoulders keep me from cocking the big magnums these days but I really prefer the smaller 1000 fps rated air guns the most. And I am not a power shooter but a paper target shooter and do not need high fps but accuracy.

I really think the picture of the wood stocks looks great. I am hoping they do not have layers of laquer on them...Smiley Would love to oil that wood down a bit and make it darker...Smiley But of course that is my on preference.

Can't wait for it to show up..Smiley

Thomas I have heard on the early Stoegers it was Italy but I think they all are made in China now.
