Well Pushed the button on B40 and B28

Getting the .177 B40 with the 3-9x40 scope and am looking at a BSA Scope that they are telling me will work on the b28. But the scope is so nice if I get it I might swap them. Put the real nice one on the B40, etc..
B28 will also be a .177Cal.

Both great rifles.  You might want to reconsider the B28 in .177.  My personal opinion is too much power for .177 to shoot accurately.  You'll be going over 1100 fps which isn't great for accuracy.  

I had an RWS350 in .177.  A powerhouse for sure but hard to shoot accurately. I'd suggest .22.  I have one in .25 and it is still launching 25 fpe or about 650 with a medium weight pellet.  

A B40 will be pushing 7.9gr pellet in mid to high 900 fps so why get a B28 in similar territory but unlike the B40 which will be accurate the B28 not so much.  I'd really recommend a .22

Just my 2 cents but you might want to ask around.

I got a real special deal on the B28 and there were only .177s available in the deal. I will probably break down and get the .22 in a couple weeks or just shoot heavy pells from the .177.

That's great.  Gotta love a deal!  Got any CPHs or Barracudas?  I personally don't like EunJins but you'll probably have better luck with heavier pellets.  Let us know how they shoot.

Mike M. sent me a B-40 a couple years ago. At that time I did not care for the heavy springers so I sent it back. Now I wish I had not done that. I have a TX-200 now. Maybe one of these days Bam will make them again.

So far not really happy with it. Not very food FPS and the trigger adjustment keeps changing, almost lost the adjustment screw already. I am hoping the FPS will come up as it breaks in. The loading breech is real tight and it is hard to get a pellet in it properly without damaging the head.

Even my TX had a tight barrel that made loading CPLs tough.  FTS have a smaller head and worked better.  I made a cone from some wet dry paper and chamfered the port.  Took about 15 minutes and now CPLs fit snug but go in easy.

once it settles u will get around 720,s with 14.5 pellets which i find good enough to keep its accuracy cause it is very accurate and if its not check with people u bought it from and im sure they will assist you but as far as the tightness i have the same problem which has no effect on my target or velocity so i leave it along pointed pellets seem to fit well but match pells are tightly snugged...i never had an airrifle that has a breech like this but if i find it in working condition i leave it along .the only problem i find in that situation is it takes longer to fit it in and i hate keepin my finger in there to long cause of the dangers of it closing ....jorge

Hi Mike, I had a similar problem when loading my B40 with pellets. Seem to hangup the head of the pellet when I tried to insert pellet into the breech. I used a Dremel bit a Aluminum Oxide cone bit. I have a Dremel drill but I used my hands for this application. Held the bit with thumb and forefinger and just rotated it while it was inserted inti the breech. The bit cost about $2.50. Take your time, I did it about two or three times before the pellet just slid right into the breech without getting hungup.Very little cost to eliminate a QC problem.Shoot Safe and Enjoy.......Bill

Well Mike, as usual you've received some excellent AG advice. I can't say much for the B-40 as I don't have a lot of expirience with under levers,....but from what I've been told, the 40 is a faithful copy of the TX. So listen up and follow the others' advice.  Perform the tweeking methods mentioned, and soon enough everything will be hunky-dory in no time at all!
Now for the .177 B-28,...I know a thing or two about these canons!  For starters, Andy gave you some pearls right off the bat,....use heavy pellets. Any sub 10 grainned pellet ain't gonna cut it! These monsters are just too dang stout and Preds and CroMags are a waste of time for any serious long range shooting. Inside that, you'll obliterate anything in its path!! So the lightest/best general purpose pellet  I'd recommend would be the Kodiaks/H&N Baracudas. The Jsb pels might work but they are soft skirted  pellets and in my case still didn't offer enough resistance down the barrel,.. SS velocities. Crosman Ultramags and RWS supermags  both fit extremely too tight in the breech of my 28, and the accuracy was not all that great.  After mine busted a spring, I reworked my 28 with another factory spring,  and the OEM piston seal was in pristine shape,... so everything was good to go for re-assembly.   Lubed all the right spots, and still, after every 50 or 60 rounds, it will cycle into "hyper-mode" for 5 to 10 rounds  and sling the Baracudas super-sonic! And that's with no detonation happenning! And I've put well over 3K rounds through it since I tuned it!  The .17 cal 28's are that dang strong. Last chroney check, Baracudas were flying in the 990  to 1020 range  one foot from the muzzle.  Accuracy wise,...mine is Very Scary. Almost too good to believe. Dime sized groups off hand at 25 if I do my part. Decapitating bottle caps off plastic soda bottles at 20 is a breeze for plinking pleasure.  The 28's are Beasts to say the least, but once mastered, they will serve you VERY well. Wanna sweet ride?,... Get the .22 like Andy suggested. Shoots like a hopped up Diana 34!!! HeHeHe .20 cal would be ideal for this platform but neither BAM nor Diana ask for my expert advice! Oh well?!?  Have fun with your new shooters!! tjk
