I hadn't been droppin the birds like I usually do with the g1 so I fired a few pellets at some paper.  first shot was 1/2 inch away from center.. cool from there it went way way downhill.  it looked like I had shot a shotgun at the paper after I was done.  the pellets were goin all over.  I think something is wrong with the scope.  I ran a few patches through the barrel.  First time i've cleaned it since I bought the gun.  they weren't very dirty.  then checked the mounts to the gun and to the scope.. all tight.. soo I fired a few more  still had a sporatic grouping.  The gun still locks up tight.. before I just assume it's the scope.  What other things could lead to this sudden loss of accuracy??

Thanx

I know leaky seals could cause this. The change in velocity causes change in POI. If you have a chrony you will figure that out quickly. I alos had a scope that as I adjusted the magnification the cross hairs would moveis a small circle. SO as I shot I would try to zoom in or out it would move POI. That one drove me nuts till I put it on the bench and was adjusting the magnification and noticed the cross hairs moving. Had the same effect you are talking about with both of the problem i had.

My G1 was shooting a little goofy too ( shots were going every where but where I wanted ) plus ,  not all the time , but every once in a while i would get a slight pinging noise.. turned out to be a broken spring that finally completely broke and the gun lost all power............

Hold your barrel and try moving it sideways and if it moves...that will throw your shots like a shotgun. I had mine replaced with nylon washers from ACE hardware and still holding on after over 2 years. I also change the alive jam spring for a really pronounce lock up of the barrel.

Thanx for all the tips guys. All the stock screws are tight, the barrel has no play sideways.  very tight.    The barrel was dirty buy nothing out of the ordinary,  just normal accumulation of lead and debris.  I'm going to have to get a chrony I've been wanting one but just don't know which one to buy?

A little update guys.  shot a ten shot string through my new f1 chronograph they ranged from 822 to 809  all were within that range so thats pretty consistent.  I bought a new scope a leapers 3x9-40   for 45 shipped off of optics planet.com   Hopefully I'll get my quality shooter back lol.  I am shooting 11.86 foot lbs with those pellets...   it's neat to see what velocity your actually shooting after all this time.

sooo is that velocity about right for the g1?  How about the spread?  any one else with a stock or tuned g1 to give input?

My untuned G1 is shooting in the mid-900s....not as consistant as yours....from 925 to 960fps.  I`m really happy with the speed just not too happy with the 30+fps difference between some shots.  She`s one of my most powerful Crosmans.....my Sierra Pro comes second.
