newbie tune question

Hello, I just bought a big cat from the sportsman's guide last week and installed the awesome grt3 trigger.
I also decided to take the gun down to do a lube tune using the b19 instructions. I tried to remove
the barrel from the receiver using the correct t-25 bit and ended up stripping the barrel pivot screw.
Has this happened to anyone else here? I still want to tune the gun but am wondering if it is absolutely
necessary to remove the barrel. If it is I will have to try and extract the screw with an easy out or similar.

Hi Adam and welcome to GTA, nice to have you with us.    As for your question.... no, you don't have to remove the barrel to tune the rifle.  Unless  you're having some kind of barrel issue I would just leave it alone.   Good luck with that Big Cat,, I'll be looking forward to your future posts with the rifle.   Also remember, if you hunt or pest control with that shooter be sure to post the stories and pics in the Hunting Gate, we just love hunting stories and pics

Are you sure the barrel pivot screw was a T25 and not a T30?

Yes, I'm sure the bit was correct.I was using a GRK brand bit I use at work installing cabinets, they
are much higher quality than most bits sold at Home Depot or Menards. I'm guessing if I used a
cheap driver bit it would have twisted before the screw stripped. On a positive note I disassembled
my chinese underlever today, cleaned and lubed it and got it back together. And it functions!
I figured I needed a confidence builder after my first screw up. Once I figure out what seals I need
I'll order those and the lube for the big cat.
