I'll never know. I was doing the shop thing tuning shooters when I heard a sound I couldn't believe CAW! CAW! CAW!. I thought maybe it had landed in my tree for a short stop and then would be on it's way so I do my slow peek out the open shop door and to my disbelief he had landed on my plastic bird bath feeder and had knocked it off in the process. :0 There he was in the middle of a pile of seed just scooping it up while the little birds were scattering around him. :0 I usually don't drop Crows and they never come into my yard but this one must of had a bet with his buddies that he could make it in grab a quick snack and get out alive lol lol lol. I had taken the 2240 out to the shop with me and she had a CPHP in her ready to go. I snagged up the pistola and as I always do slid it around the corner of the door then rested the cross hairs at the top of his chest and released the CPHP. THWACK! and feathers flew as he fell to his side raised his tail and head then both dropped to the grass. I was still kinda shocked about a Crow in my yard but made short work of the first and probably the last one since his kin probably witnessed it from the safe zone. The 2240's first CAW and at the 15yrd mark and I think my shop's turning into a hunting hide lol. Ed

Congrats on your 2240's first crow kill Ed!  Nice shot!

That's exactly why it came in.  Its buddies had dared it to last 1 min. on your property.  They just wanted to get rid of their buddy probably so they can have its stash of food when it never returned from the 1-way trip Smiley

It's the same here.  I had 1 or 2 crows land on the trees at the edge of my property this past season, or across the street.  They would not come any closer than 60yds.  The one I got was a 1-legged crow that saw the Starlings eat the cat food and figured it was safe if the Starlings could do it.

I couldn't even get a normal crow with 2 legs!! :0  hehehe  Its buddies probably sent it my way, so I could put it out of its misery.  They are pretty smart these crows..  Cheesy

Thanks brothers, Crow with one leg hehe Harry. I had him propped out there for most of the day but all he attracted was flies so he was taken to wood's next to me and placed next to a critter route. He'll be gone before tomorrow I'm sure, free meal. Ed

Good job on the crow. I dont get them around here veru often either. Just the beloved grackles and they are catching on that my yards aint safe for them. Its funny how birds figure out who can and cant come into a yard.
