California is a lonnnnnggggg state North to South. Should we encourage a Northern Group split somewhere along the bottom end of the Central  Valley or just stay as one group for the whole state? Would any of you be interested in heading up a Northern group?

I wouldn't mind, but I don't have the space (or neighbor tollerance) to hold a shoot-out.

Waiting on some replies to emails. Need to go through the member list and email all those with a California address. Never thought about shooting at night and that opens up the weather window here where I live. Need to catch someone from the Forest Service and ask them about shooting in the local mountains - lots of rules. Our Equestrian Ministry went on a ride last week near Big Bear and it sure is dry up there this year. We have had about 1/2" of rain all year so far here in the high desert - not good for the local game. The rabbits and quail just are not breeding - too dry. I have less than 40 quail around the house and usually would have 200+ this time of year. I have not seen a rabbit for weeks and even the jacks are scarce. Hunting season starts in a few days and there is not much to hunt!!

I'll go one further and say I think it should be split into thirds. North=0 to 300 miles/Central=300 to 600 miles/South=600 to 900 miles. It's approximately 900 miles top to bottom. I don't think most people are willing to drive more than 100 miles to hunt with an airgun. My .02

Hey, I wouldn't mind getting involved in a Southern California thing. I am in Oceanside. I can only shoot about 20m at home, and that from inside the house. I was thinking about canvassing the growers and horse farms in northeast SD county for pest control prospects.

For what it's worth, while I no longer have my Fresno affiliations due to recent personnel changes in the romantic department, the Central Valley is really its own place and neither Northern nor Southern. This is probably to their credit and despite being very hot, the San Joaquin valley is the most gun and hunting friendly portion of this odd state. It may also have the most shootable critters.

Well Robert, I did set up a Northern and Southern California Shooting Discussion Group Forum. For sure the state is long...:) I have made many trips back and fourth in years past on the old interstate 99.

Hope some of our members can step up to the plate and take advantage of the two discussion forums

Wow, I guess things don't get posted very often over here...I'd be willing to drive either north or south 100 miles from here in Bakersfield.  Has anybody got any ideas recently?
