RWS aka Walther scopes

Just purchased RWS Mendoza RM600.
Now looking at RWS or Walther 6x42 illuminated mill dot scope.
Does anyone here have any experience with this brand and their survival rate on the powerful springer?

I'm not too enthused about the RWS scopes. I had an RWS 350 compact 4x that came on the package with my Panther 34 .22. That big Diana shot that scope to pieces in fairly short order.

Personally I would buy a Bushnell or Leapers if you want a scope that will stay together on a high powered springer. After shooting four cheap scopes to bits on different guns I won't buy cheap scopes anymore.

I second Peachick, I had the same RWS scope on my Panther RWS 34 combo, lasted no-time! I have a Burris on it now with over 1500 pellets through it and its rock solid, using an Bsquare mount.

Peachick, did you return your scope to RWS for a new one, or did you scrap it?  I was thinking of returning for a new one and selling it.

I just have mine in a box. I should return it under warranty. Have a BSA that needs the same treatment.

I looked thru a couple of them at Sportsmans Warehouse and they weren't any better than my Bushnell Sportsman that came on my Beeman Bearcub.  Personally, I'll buy a Tech Force next time or a Leapers.

Well, being a greenhorn at this air gun optics I will take your advice seriously.
Looked all afternoon at lot of scopes and still inclined to get a Nikko Stirling Air King 3x9x42.
Right now the dealer is out of of stock. Just as well.
I am the kind a guy that quit buying stuff on impulse some 30 years ago. And it usually always paid of.
Need to break that barrel little bit more anyway, since I barely send a 100 pellets thru it.
So far I like this little Mendoza 600.Not a helluva lot of gun, but did not cost arm and leg either.
I may like it even  more after I get hold of some Kodiak or JSB Exact Heavy pellets.
That JSB is made by my countryman and looks like he turns out some quality pellets.

Hmmm in all of these posts in this thread I am looking at the guns being used with the scopes being talked about. These are medium power guns not magnums like the RWS 350 and 460. Kind of bothers me that I am seeing so many issues with scopes. Heck even the leapers are having problems according to a few of our members. I do not have a lot of experience with the scopes in question in this thread.... but I do own 2 Tasco Golden Antler 3-9x32AO and between the 2 of them I am guessing they both have around 2500 pellets through both. They have ridden on my guns which are all medium power airguns and have done me very well. I got both of mine from Nachez for around 50 dollars shipped to my door. Now I know there is nothing like hands on experience to be able to have a decent opinion on something but honestly from my experience with the GA's and then reading other people's comments about other low priced scopes, I think that the Tasco GA in its price range is the best airgun scope out there. Now if others would like to step in and have a discussion about this I would love that. Those of us on a tight budget need to get every last ounce of qaulity we can hehe.

I own the most brutal on scopes springer out there and it has a Leapers 3-9x40 TT Ill mildot and I haven't had any problems yet. When I bought it there was an older Leapers 3-9x40 on it. The pervious owner didnot mind the screws and they came loose almost shot the scope out of the rings. I took it off be cause I noticed the last owner crushed the scope tube with the rings. Not bad but would not stay put in the mounts. That on now sits on my AR2078. My other low dollar scope that has never let me down is my BAS 3-12X44 airrifle scope. It is on my Webley Vulcan .177 (medium springer) and has been on it for 5 years and no problems. My BSA was 109 back then now they are 79 dollars and they just came out with it in mildot. My leapers was 68 dollars from Archer. I'm going to break down at the end of the month and by a 30 mm tubed Leapers 3-12 for FT for my B-40 if it does well it will go on the killer for the true test.

Today while getting some decent pellets in Sportsman Warehouse for my Mendoza 600 I  broke down and bought me a scope too.
Nothing more then a 3x9 Bushnell Sportsman for less than 50 bucks and it is quite possible it may become a keeper.
The Crossman Hollow Point hunting pellets I started with is a garbage. Being a newbie I did not know any better.
What a difference is to shoot Beeman Crow Magnum!!
The Sportsman IS NOT a Simmons Pro by any means but I am limited to 30 yards backyard shots, so it should do just fine.
Even looks like the rings supplied with it will hold. If not I will put a B- Square solid "C" mount on it.
Still want to try those JSB exact and predators, though.
That's what's nice about being a retired folk, there is no rush for anything anymore!
Pull that main sail down and just cruise.

I have that Bushnell Sportsman 3-9 x 32mm, non AO on my Quest and am very happy with it. Decent, clear optics. Well built strong tube. Mine has held its zero well. It's a very decent scope for medium powered guns. Mine is in an Accushot one piece mount on my Quest.
I have a Bushnell Sportview, 3-9 x 32mm AO, TT in a B-Square one piece mount on my HW30 and have been very pleased with that scope too.

Well, I just finished sighting it in, not on the bench though, just of padded six foot ladder and a chair.
It groups well, but I am not too excited about the glass. It looks like a little haze in it.
At first I blamed it on western sun, but it stayed there even after sundown.
Thing is, once you get everything just perfect, the excitement of searching for new thing stops.
 Boy, do I hate that!!

Hehe hang in there Bud. Hmm haze on the scope... I know I have a post somewhere talking about scope adjustment with a cement block it only works once though and then the objective lens takes a 90 degree turn in the tube. But seriously it does work....for what is the question lol. Its a humorous thread if ya can find it, it may ease your pain on the haze for a minute or 2.

I know well all things being equal, the quality is mostly suggested by the price.
There is no shortcuts, just a great buys once a while. Once I picked up a mint, tack driving 25-06 from a friend whose wife quit hunting.
And as usually the story goes, things we obtain easy, we do not hold on as dearly.
To scope this little Mendoza is no problem.
I am pleasantly surprised though that this springer shoots well, regardless of a firm hold that many do not recommend on this type of air gun.
My biggest achievement still so far, is finding this forum with a load of members with not only good on hand knowledge, but also much appreciated wit and humor.
