Not what you would call a hunt

Gonna try this one more time, now that I am awake.

I dont get out much to hunt and my back yard is the best I can do.  I leave most birds alone, but the   tree rats are another thing.  They can be very distruictive if they get in your house, which they did a few years ago, for that I try to eliminate every one around my area that I can.
As you can see by the pictures , my hunting area is small, 60'x70' with one large tree that they love to run around till I see them. Murphy , my Westhighland White, is my announcer, he lays by the sliding door and goes bannans when he see a squirrle . So now my turn, OSOK right.  Toby my Britt, he usually finds the quarry once its down.
Now today was no different than any other day, Murphy alerted me to the rat and reaching for my B26 which has taken several already was ready for the task at hand.
I had just recientely met Donnie Miller and he had given me a tin of JSB preditor pellets to shoot, so I grab one, loaded up the 26 and OSOK hit the quarry.  But the 26 did its job, hitting where it was aimed, the preditor , well , did its job but it took awhile. maybe it was the placement of the shot , maybe the pellet, but I feel if I had used its favorite pellet , the JSB stratton , the quarry would not have run off like it did with the preditor pel.  OH it did expire  but it took several minutes as it was in a crotch of the tree and finnally dropped .  So my opinion of the preditors are still out.

Nice pics, enjoyed them.  Just wondering,,, is that a grey squirrel cause it looks kinda "reddish" in the photo, or is it a fox squirrel.  Anyway, good shooting.  Nice dogs too :)

that is a red fox squirrel, and pregnant one as well.  that makes two that were.  not many left around to shoot.  guess I should let them have them so there will be more for later.

sorry those JSB's didn't do the job. It was nice meeting you this weekend! nice shooting & that b26 was a real nice shooter as well!

only took one shot but maybe the placement was off some for a osok.  hit just below the ear in the neck. it ran up the tree , couldn't get a second  shot as it was in the crotch of limbs hidding till it  dropped to the ground. but by then it had expiered.  no second shot needed.  
Yea it was great to finnaly meet you.  and once you go over that legacy, we'll do it again, but longer this time.  ya mind if I bring along my tunner bud, david. I'll make sure he brings his Jeff Wolgast guns along :-)
