I live in town and have a cat problem. I have talked to the animal control people and they will not help, except put them to sleep if I take them to them. I talked to the Police here and they tell me I can shoot them with a Air Gun or Trap them. If I trap them I must not dump them. I must take them to the dog pound when they oer there or Humanely put them down my self.

I have an old Cummings Tool .177 pellet gun (c-3 I think). What should I use for Ammo that will do a good job at 5 yards? I want clean kills.

Most any of the hunting type pellets, round nose or hollow points. Crossman Priemer either the  HP's or round nose. At 5/7 yards the pointed should be alright also.

JUST make sure you zero the sights for that distance and shoot a bunch at that distance so you know where the pellet hits.

I would make sure to just go for head shots, 5 to 7 yards will get a clean kill with a head shot. I don't think I would want to be around a wounded *_*_*_*_*_*ed off cat.

around here my neighbor was on feral cat patrol...she used hav-a-hearts and Animal Control would come to her place and pick them up.

Hello,

I live in town and have the same problem. I have had animal control trap some of them but that is such a hassel. I use my Model 36 when I get the chance, but I have to be carefull of the neighbors. It is a real problem and I know how you feel. Best of luck...

We have a Cat jetty here. The ladys that take care of it tell me I must have the cats fixed and have all shots before a cat can go there.

The police said it would be legal to shoot them, so I'll give them there shot.  I just want to be sure they  take. Just want the cats out of here.

In the last 15 days I have taken 32 to get put dow.

I think all cities have some sort of alley cat problem, I'm not a cat person so it's easy for me to justify blowing a hole in  mellon  after they take a crap or *_*_*_*_*_* in my wifes flower garden, then I have to listen to complain about the oder for weeks I guess its pay back!!!!!

Sounds like universal problem. I live next  to , well I like to call them the ADAMS FAMILY. Weird happenings and a house to match.Cats breeding like well rats and I've done it all. Ask them to control their cats, no response. call animal control, no response.Trap, tired of it. Sheriff lives across the street , said if all else fails put them down.

Yep, I'm in the same boat as weiner. Animal Control here doesn't deal with cats. Nice to know that local law enforcement is on our side. I keep telling the wife I'd make her a coat out of the critters if she looked the other way.

Must be a universal policy with animal control agencies as I have the same problem here.  The town animal control will respond for just about any kind of critter except of course cats.  We have a couple of "wild" cats that live in the woods at the back of my property and they drive my wifes domestic cats crazy.  They walk up on the rear deck, stare at them through the glass doors, which of course makes them nuts !! My wifes bird feeders are constantly filled with feed and attract tons of birds and squirrels, so the feral cats have top notch hunting grounds to feed themselves with.  I would gladly shoot them, and it is legal here provided they're killing wildlife, but my wife would shoot me if she ever found out so it's not worth the risk.  I may pick up one of those live wire traps they sell and give that a try.

"Honey?  Where are you going with that axe?"

"Cat hunting dear.  I'll be back in a little while."
