I got them from south summit had to wait their shipment to get through customs from china , it was worth the wait I've put in some pictures and a target the bull on the left is with the scope and the bull on the right is with iron sights all at 10 yds. and the rifles have less than 60 rds through them. Also the catalog says they have a safty but it is not a trigger safty but a kind of lock on the breach if you don't push the lock release you can't break open the rifle.howie

for the pictures and the lead to SouthSummit. I was looking at these on SS's website all week.
Going to go ahead and pick a couple up, thanks to your testimonial.
Nice pictures, by the way. -JC

Never liked the B2's - the pair that I had (and the B1 cousin) were inaccurate and poorly made. But the stocks and sights on these certainly look better than the ones I had... hopefully they're better all-round guns these days.

It's not hard to make them much better, have a few ways to make the already nice stock look nicer also.

I have both .177 and .22 and I can say they respond well to a tune. Time has to be spent and they can be nice. From the box I thought they were light and shouldered well. As a matter of fact just today I tore down the .22 to install a Maccari 33 coil Firewire spring. So of course while it was apart I polished the trigger some more, sand and soaked the piston seal, and did some more polishing of the piston then reassembled it with clear light speed tar, heavy black tar, and molly lubes in all the right places. Damm if it isint even smoother, the trigger is better, at least predictable and the power increased from a dismal 352 fps to 467.0 from cross points. With that much increase I'm guessing the piston seal needed the sand and soak. Well thats all I could get on the Chrony today as it was overcast cloudy and it just wouldn't pick up the pellets. I'm happy though.

go out to your garage and get the rubbing compound (usually brown)for the car and the polishing compound (usually white) , follow the directions on the tub and start in rubbing, use small circles, buff it out after with a wool buffing pad gently and wax with a good cleaner type car wax, it shines the finish up and over time will make it even smoother, just go slowly when rubbing and polishing, if you blow through the varnish you can have problems getting it covered up again......for the adventuresome you can start with 600 or 1000 grit paper wrapped around a flat piece of wood to get all the high spots knocked down, have to be very careful doing this as it eats through real quick..........done right you can get a mirror finish, some rifles have a factry finish that you can get to look nice, some don't, if the finish looks thin then I wouldn't try anything just give it a good coat of wax......

Ah-ha! got it.. Tell me does the rubbing compound bring down the factory shellac drips enough to disappear? My B2-2's have plenty.

I did more chrony testing today as the sun is shining. It is however 23 degrees out so my time handling lead pellets with my fingers was limited. I ran 3 more 5 shot strings with the .22 To sum it up the best string average of course came from the 12.6 g Beeman Silver Bears @ 515 fps. 2nd was a surprise that the heavier 14.5 g RWS Superdomes averaged 481.5, higher than the 14g Meisterklugens @ 475.6 fps. Interesting! On another note I thought I'd test a box stock .177 with nothing done. 1st thing I noticed was how crunchy cocking was then the twangy thud upon fireing compared to the tuned .22, but the .177 numbers were still nice @ 629.3 shooting 7g Hobby's and consistent. This is a good candidate for a tune. Wish I bought 2 Maccari Firewires now! Oh and thanks Mike they're both real shiny now. Howie I hope you plan on at least a minor tune polish and deburr it's such a big difference.

I forgot the original specs, Muzzle Velocity: 420 fps Overall length: 43" Weight: 6 lbs Caliber: .22 South Summit Claims 550 fps all other sights I've found say 420 fps? I'm much happier with my tune now especially since I started out with not so good accuracy in the 350+ or - fps range and installed a spring that cost near as much as the gun!! .
