Was at the local gunshow today just browsing around. I see a table with a sign covering a gun it says "22call Pellet Gun". I can see part of the gun and I'm thinking it might be a QB like I have. To my suprise when I turn it over it says Crosman 160. The guy had $75 on it and I couldn't talk him down. I figured as much as I love my QB from Mike I can't do too bad with one so I grab it. The wife just shook her head when she saw me carrying it in. There's no barrel band on it and it has a thumb tye safety, the tube cap lightly touches the barrel when you turn it. For it's age it seems to be in really good shape. Here are a few pic of it. If anybody can give anymore details about it I'd appreciate it. I don't really know much about em, just dumb luck I ran into it.

Yes, it looks very nice! This is an early 160, dating from the 1950s. The earliest models did, indeed, have no barrel band, so take a close look at the stock to see if it's inletted for a band. If there's inletting, then a current QB78 front band will fit. Looks like a good buy for $75.00. Stephen Archer Archer Airguns Inc. http://www.archerairguns.com

Nice pictures does yours have a spacer between the barrel and the gas tube??? don't remember if the one I have had it added or if the barrel was free floated.....I do so much to the QB's and add so many things I can't remember if they came with it or with out....

I haven't tried it out for accuracy yet, I did fire a few rounds to make sure it functions though. The safety resets everytime you cock it, not sure if that is normal. There doesn't seem to be any inletting in the stock for a barrel band. The barrel would be free floating if it didn't rest on the tube cap. I'll try to see how it shoots later today, but with my eyes and iron sights it might be hard to tell. I noticed the end of the bolt is flat rather than the pin-like end on my QB, is this normal too or has the pin broken off? I can get pics of it if needed.

First varient 160 had a spacer rather than the band. being the first problems accured soon after the releas of them. the first trigger/sear was attatch to the stock rather than the action like the later model. the first only lasted about 6mts or so till the second inproved model came out. this one had the trigger/sear atatched to the tube which elimitate the defect in the first model. Problem with the first, the stock screw would come loose and with the trigger/sear attatched would cause the gun to fire without pulling the trigger. so crosman had to come up with a quick fix , hense the second model. Be careful with this gun, tighten the stock screw up good, maybe even a little loctite to keep it from working loose , believe me they will. The spacer on your gun is missing , that's what keeps the cap from touching the barrel. Go over to the AVA site, look up DTFlitcher he posted that he may have some left. pics of my Cr160 & 167 first model, see the spacer near the cap.

Hope so, from his post he seemed like he did. Just remember to tighten up that nut real tight now, be careful shooting it and always check the nut for tightness. saftey is always first .

glad to hear , now your gun will be complete. when you get it, you'll notice a little tip on one side, look on the barrel, the hole matches up, helps to keep if from sliding. have fun and watch out for that nut from loosing up. cant say that enough., sorry. saftey always first.
