: Most Exotic Air Guns -- any price
: thebookdoc September 04, 2009, 12:18:32 AM
I am curious to expand my knowledge of what is available in airgunnery. I am familiar with many popular brands, but have become more curious about even smaller manufacturers, custom airgun makers, unusual guns. That doesn't necessarily mean 'expensive', but it might. Having seen the interesting TOP 10 Plinkers thread ( http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20595&mid=165110#M165110 ), and reading Gene's suggestion about the CZ (and reading about the spring latch), I realized how little I knew about what was available and what might be interesting. These days I know a lot more about what I want, and as I move forward I envision having a custom rifle made...eventually. But it is likely there is enough available already to keep my interests fed for a long time.

What do you think are the most exotic airguns and features on those guns, and why?

The big bore airguns have always seemed exotic to me:)  http://www.quackenbushairguns.com/   http://www.quackenbushairguns.com/bandit_1.html

Check this one out...

Mr. Perotti does some inventive things to airguns. The .32 caliber Sheridan is just one of the things he's done.
He has also done several "air conserving" pumpers that function like mini-PCPs. Charge the guns with many pumps and then only need 2 or 3 pumps between shots and still get full power for each shot.

Check out John Whiscombe's guns, the JW 50 through 80, I believe.  Custom, hand made springers that use an opposing piston design that makes them truly recoilless.  Lots of other features, so far out of my league I don't even know all the goodies :-).  One was recently posted on the Yellow Forum classifieds for $4500, I think it sold in about 10 minutes.  I'm afraid John has taken his last orders, I think he has some in the works now, but then he's done.  So if you want one, better haunt the classifieds.  Later.

Yes, JW makes some amazing stuff. There have been a series of posts on the Yellow about his creations.

Any of the FWB, Anschutz, Steyr, Walther 10m or FT rifles. Fantastic technology, materials, accuracy. The MAC 1 / LD USFT is a very functional, very accurate rifle with great, no-nonsense engineering, at what is a reasonable price for what you get.

Peak, those are fine guns but not truly as custom as a Whiscombe, etc.  I believe someone is making a wonderfully detailed copy of a Girandoni-style rifle (one of the original PCP designs).  These are in the multi-thousand dollar range.

Very cool posts, I love that Quigley V airgun. I have always been fascinated by things that create their own power or energy. So you dont have to lug any extra junk around. And the fact it can be left charged indefinately is very unique also. Thanks for the cool info, hopefully this thread will continue.AKJC1977
