The Gamo Big Cat takes the GRT-III trigger and can be found on the net in various place in the $120-$130 range.  It's no Whisper that you got rid of, but for the price range it's good. I think even Wal-Mart sells 'em.

Airgun Gate / Old Member Back - Need some advice
« Last post by PAshooter on July 22, 2010, 09:31:12 PM »
Hello All,

I havent been around for a while but Im back for some advice.  a few years back I bought a Gamo Whisper and added the GRT-III trigger.  I loved this rifle but stupidly sold it and I have regretted it ever since.  I am into shooting (mostly my AR-15 and 1911 Pistol) but I want to get another airgun because thats all I can shoot where I live for safety reasons.

I am looking for advice on a decent rifle to get me back in the airgun game.  Unfortunately my budget isnt what it used to be so replacing the Whisper would be a stretch.  I stopped by the local Wally World today and other than the Red Ryder and cheap Daisy's they had the Crosman Storm XT with 4x32 Centerpoint Scope for $109. Is this a decent rifle or are there others that are better for not much more cash?  I also loved the GRT-III trigger so a rifle that would accept that trigger would be a bonus.

If I could find a Gamo with the metal trigger I might stretch the budget, are they really hard to find?

Thanks everyone for your help and opinions.  Its nice to be back.

Dean just bought a gun from me and was a pleasure to do business with. He is honest, pays quickly and can be counted on to do what he says. I would not hesitate to do business with Dean again!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...too light. As I stated earlier I won't be buying any as they are too expensive. I'll probably save the rest for CO2 guns.

I WOULDN'T RECOMEND SHOOTING ANYMORE PBA PELLETS OUT OF ANY GUN.  THEY ARE MUCH TOO LIGHT TO SHOOT OUT OF A SPRINGER.  WHEN SHOOTING THESE PELLETS YOU ARE ESSENTIALLY  DRY FIRING YOUR GUN.  JUST MY OPINION BUT I THINK OTHERS WILL CONCURE WITH MY STATEMENT.

Airgun Gate / Gamo Raptors

Fed Ex delivered my Diana RWS 34 Meisterschutze Pro Compact .177 yesterday and I sat down to see what it would do. I pulled out my cases of pellets to see which one would be the best for my new rifle. Shooting @ 10 yards I tried Meisterkugeln's, Hobby's, Superdome's, H-Points, Crosman Premier Heavies, and a few others, most of them grouped very well. I could cover most of the groups with a dime.

Looking though the rest of my pellets I noticed the little container of Gamo PBA Raptors that came with one of my Gamo rifles. I've read many times on the various boards about them and just put them away, assuming that they were some sort of gimmick and have had them for some time. Well what the heck, I thought, they're not doing me any good just sitting there, so I shot a group of 5. The loud crack as I shot told me these things where absolutely going supersonic. No doubt about it. But to my surprise they gave me the best group of the session by far. Now as I stated before, this was only @ 10 yards, but it was still a great group.

My question: Has anyone else had any luck with them as well? About all I've ever heard is how they are not accurate.  These things are too expensive ($8.99/100) to buy on a regular basis, so I'm not planning to get any more.

Yeah the newer Turkey guns have gotten a bad rap IMO....... I had a Turkish made Winchester 1000X .177 that was really quite accurate and very powerful....the only bad thing about it was a not so good trigger pull which was remedied with a slightly longer adjustment screw..... gald you got your problem fixed

Doesn't the 350 have a reputation of eating scopes.

anyone bought from this company,  I have a TF99 that I would like to put a synthetic piston seal on.  they have seal adaptors (do you think the threads are the same) for a buck, seals and even a cheap spring that looks like it might work.  Anyone tried any of this stuff.
