9 OZ Co2 tanks.
« on: September 26, 2009, 06:20:51 AM »
Can anyone tell me which aluminum tanks will fit a QB79. I have one from Stryker and it is so close to the barrel that it makes a mark on the tank finish. Steel tanks seem to be hard to find. I have been using  Crossman airsouce tanks but would like to use the bigger tank because it is cheaper to fill. I just got this gun and out of the box it has been a great shooter, very accurate.

All the modern tanks seem to be nearly the same size, which is a bit over 2".  Doesn't seem to matter which brand of 9oz. Al. tank, they're just relabled from various suppliers.
3 modern 9oz. tanks:
2.10"
2.12"
2.13"
(have to measure in several different areas (and not on top of a sticker) as they are not perfectly formed).

My one 9oz. steel tank (with the rounded end, not flat like Al. tanks) runs 2.05". Would expect there to be a variation of a few 1/00ths between tanks.

The old school Al tanks are closer to 2", but of the old time 10's, 7's, and 3 1/2's only the 3 1/2's seem to still be in production.
7 oz (from about 1983) = 1.98"
3.5 oz. (current production) =  1.93"

Go to Ebay...  Search Chrome Moly CO2 tanks    I found some there, they are  abit smaller than the alu or straight steel tanks...  Mine do not contact the barrel of my QB79, close, but do infact miss it

Hope this helps

If your new to Qb's ,and are going to use PB tanks, make sure the Pb tank valve is free of debri or it will end up blowing inside the QB valve and it will lodge inside...Put caps on the PB tanks when not in use.Always have something covering the opening of your QB79 when the tank is not connected.

I just learned this the hard way :(
