next qb question........
« on: October 16, 2009, 10:17:13 AM »
for all you qb78/79 experts..........guys,if  using one of the respected tuners who frequent the boards;

what type of fps can be attained while retaining co2 as a propellant.? my (ryans) qb is a deluxe model in .177, using 12gr powerlets. i'd like to retain co2, but see an increase in velocity to include heavy (10.2 gr) pellets.
realistically, id like to know if our tuners can get the aforementioned qb into the 900fps range which would mirror his big cat.

thanks in advance for your respected words of wisdom !!

A little while back, asked mike to make a fast .177 version running on 12grs. .... will look for the post made after testing it (but will say he did a good job).

Mike will deliver what he advertizes and stand behind his product if there is a problem.

Realize gas use goes way up once you start passing 670fps (in .22 / 14.3gr), and the difference a bit more speed makes down range isn't as drastic as you might assume.

IF you start out a .22 CP at 650fps, sight in at 30yards, it will be moving about  500fps at 50yards with about  4.5" of drop.
If everything stays the same, but the pellet launches at 700fps, will end up at 50yards going  about 530fps with  3.75" of drop.

3/4" of drop difference isn't a whole lot, neither is 30 fps, and to get it will cost about 1/4 more gas use.
