Urgent - Stock screw won't come off
« on: January 22, 2010, 11:50:48 AM »

Alright so I've just got my Silent Cat in the mail today, and it definitely has the metal trigger -- so I can put the GRT in if without a doubt now....anyway, to further conclude my hypothesis I needed to take off my stock. Sure I got one screw out with a standard 1/8 allen key/wrench, the other screw did not perform in the same fashion. The screws on this particular shooter seem to need a special looking key/wrench if I'm not mistaken? I sure hope I didn't strip the threading...anyway here are some pictures and please give me your input! Thank you

*edit* I've tried every single allen key and wrench, all sizes, screw drivers, you name it....nothing fits.

The stock screws are not allen head screws. They are #25 Torx screws. Allen wrenches will ruin the head of the screw.

Yeah I thought so -- It was my mistake. I knew that it might be one of those but I guess it slipped my mind. I wonder if the local Home-Depot or Lowes has those wrenches. Looks like I'll have to make some calls :) Thanks again Bob,

Lowe's has them.  Make sure you get the one that is long and thin enough to reach in through the trigger guard.

Problem solved; picked up a set of a Torx driver set made my Kobalt -- at about $11 that's a so so price. It was the only cheapest set that had the #25 driver, so I guess I can't complain. Any who, thank you for helping you two :) I really appreciate it....my last few GAMO shooters had the "plus" head screw driver type screws for the stock, so I didn't know what to expect for this one..

All three of my recent Gamos use the Torx screws.  My ancient Gamo Expotec uses cross-head (Forgot it's name) screws.

You mean the Phillips head (+) screws?
