No Gas Ram available for CFX currently

I just spoke to a customer service rep at Pyramyd Air and she told me that Gamo changed the internals of the .22 cal. CFX and they currently do not have a gas ram available to do the conversion.  Can anybody else verify this?

I also did some Googling about Air Venturi gas rams and one link brought me to one of these threads.  Does anybody know if Theoben makes a gas ram that will fit my late model CFX?  Thanks.

The gas ram conversion for the CFX has been discontinued for awhile now -- probably since early last year if I recall. If I can think back, Pyramyd-Air made a blog post on that particular Gas Ram CFX; more specifically "Tom Gaylord". A somewhat major issue that was being addressed on the subject was that the conversion proved to have inconsistencies in FPS. As far as another aftermarket company making a gas ram for the CFX. There is no such thing as I am aware of. I've heard that a handful of people modified a regular Gas Ram and somehow made it compatible with the CFX; however, I cannot prove this or provide documentation. It just remains an "opinion" and or a "hypothesis" if you will.

I have a .177 CFX with a gas ram.  It shoots pretty consistently for me.  I just want the same thing done my new .22 cal. CFX.

Did I recommend you search here on CFX power levels? There is a member who has installed gas rams he has bought from a supplier. Should be only a couple of weeks back.

If the Air Venturi rams produced more power than the stock springs, it could be that they are too strong. The blog suggested that the power levels went up, but a lot of users reported the opposite. The sealing system in the CFX appears to be a design-limiting factor. I'm beginning to think that the o-rings cannot handle much more pressure than a stock gun produces. BTW, the BSA forerunner of the CFX could be had with a Theoben ram.

I got a reply from Airgunwerks and they told me that Theoben does make a gas ram for the CFX.  Assuming the CFX's I have (all of them with the stamped metal trigger), is the "older" version of the CFX, the Theoben gas ram should fit, right?  Well, when they gets them in stock, I'll be buying one to try out.  If it fits, I'll buy another one for the synthetic stock CFX in .22 that just came today.  And yes, it has the stamped metal trigger and was made in '09 also.

Glad you got a good one. I considered a synthetic in .177 and saw one on the Yellow but he wants almost retail for it. Don't need another .177, anyway. Hope the rams turn out great for you. Do report on them in the Shop section when you're ready.

Airgundepot is selling the CFX in .22 for $169.99 with a scope.  That's where I got the synthetic stock one.  I got the CFX Royal from PyramydAir.

Yes, he was asking $165, shipped, with about 500 through it, stock. And I couldn't tell from the picture if it had the metal trigger or not. For the difference you get a brand new gun with warranty. I've seen tuned CFX's go for around the same price, as well.

500 what through it?  I took a chance and ordered it.  It does have the metal trigger.  When I install the Theoben gas ram and a new trigger, Leapers scope and Accushot 1-piece scope mount, it's all going to end up costing $500 (all taxes included).  The Gamo scope that came with my synthetic stock CFX is going to be used for something else.

LongIslandArcher, I Appreciate the CFX trigger information. I plan to order the CFX 22 with synthetic stock from Air Gun Depot in the morning, based on the one you received with the metal trigger. I will call them just to be sure they still have some in stock, and order one by the internet. No guarantee that I will get one with the metal trigger, but certainly there will be excellent chance of it.

As an aside, I have a .177 CFX that has an air venturi gas ram in it with upgraded Tesla piston seal and the GRT-III trigger.  It sounds like a .22 rimfire going off when I shoot it.  And I suspect it's smoking Kodiaks out the barrel at 900+/- fps.  Gonna get a chrony eventually to find out.

Yes, I will ask Air Gun Depot to open the CFX box and check for a metal trigger. I could just kick myself for not getting a CFX 22 with a gas ram when they were available. Perhaps your CFX project with the theoben gas ram will be a future upgrade for my soon to have CFX 22. You indicated that you are waiting for AirGunWerks to get them in stock. Certainly, it is exciting waiting to find out the power and accuracy results.
