THE FT MATCH WAS A BLAST!
« on: February 13, 2010, 12:24:27 PM »
Long story short. I used the Winchester 800x exclusivly. It did me good. Each target was worth 2 points if you got it in the hole and knocked it down-1 point if you hit it. All shots were taken while sitting on the ground, except four, wich were standing unsupported. The targets were set up between 15-40yds. They all were the pop -up animal silowets.[ how in the heck do you spell that anyway!!??] I actually hit all 40 targets, and three actually fell. :D A possible 80 points, I got 46. It was FREAKING AWESOME!! Everybody there was great, all ages from 20's to 60's. No pressure, no intimidation, nothing but a friendly fun time. After the match was over  I was offered to shoot a Diana 34. WOW! Smooth as silk. 3 pound trigger. Yep, after shooting the Winchester I was not ready for such a smooth trigger. The gun was not stock. It was a fine piece of equipment. [O.K. RED FEATHER, I AM A BELIEVER!]. Half of the people were shooting springers, the other half pcp's with scopes that were longer and had bigger wheels than my truck. It was a great experience for fun and learning.I do need to locktite my stock screws.upon cocking I could feel it. I tightened them back up and went on. THANK YOU RICK KNOWLES for a great experience, great fun, and a great learning experience. I will be returning.   :) Also Thank You to the GTA members for the encouragment and advise. You guy's kick butt! [ sorry this is so long, I'm pumped! I'm done now]

You'll be fine Vinny :emoticon:

And fun is the name of the game :) Whenever you start pressuring yourself, your not having fun :o and that the only important ting in shooting, don't pressure yourself !

I'm happy that you had such a great time :emoticon:

OH, it's spelled SILHOUETTES, I looked it up :emoticon:

Man not fare. :emoticon:  I wish I had something like that to go to down here. Heck I live 20 min south of FT. Smith Arkansas  home of Umarex USA and still nothing. They are building a new facility right down the road from where all the local "archery" 3d shoots are. I think they are even going to be hireing to fill new jobs. You would think that some one from there would say "hey, lets promote our business in a town that has no idea that we are here and start a FT Match" well thats what I would do. OH yeah I have thought about starting one, seriously lots of land and places to have one. Heck we could use the 3D archery ranges on the weekends that they are not shooting. The Lanes would be cut already I would have to just put up targets, fill the ice chest, start the grill, get the score cards ready and have fun. Sorry to hijack your thread but I am just Super Jelous.

Way to go Vinny. Sounds like you had a blast. Wish we had something like that in the Cincinnati Ohio and Northern Kentucky area. I would love to go and learn.

VINNY,

Sounds like you had a great time.  Where was the match at?  Does the club have a website?  I'd like to attend my first FT match to see what it's like  I travel to Tacoma a few times a year to visit relatives.  Thanks for any info.

Doug

I think I'll give them a call and try to plan a family visit the same weekend as a FT match.
