Crosman Phantom at WalMart and .22 Pellets.
« on: May 24, 2010, 06:09:51 AM »
Stopped by a nearby WalMart this day to see if they had the .22 calibre pellets as noted in another post.   To my surprise they do have them in stock.    I purchased a can to see if they are any good.    While there ,  I noticed that they also have they Crosman Phantom air rifle for the price of $ 80.00.    I do not  believe this comes with a scope but this is a good solid shooter IMO.  And of solid build.    Beats the almost $150.00 now being asked for a Gamo Big Cat.

This was at the store in Evans, Georgia.  I did not see the new Crosman Gas Ram as mentioned in the Crosman-Benjamin Gate forum.  Too bad,  I may have sprung for one.

Those Phantoms are indeed good solid shooters.  That's a great price.

The Wally world in my neck of the woods has the .22 Crosman HP's now too.  They are getting rid of the current inventory for cheap and are replacing everything with new guns from what I was told.  I just got an 880 Daisy in the box for 35 bucks.   No phantoms or anything else "powerful" left there though.

**Update**

I just got done accuracy testing it. It loves JSB Exacts and puts them in one ragged hole at 20yards. It also likes Kodiaks, Crosman HPs and Crosman Pointed! Very pleased with it at the moment. Only wish I could tweek the trigger a bit.

Yesterday, I picked up three tins (all that were left) of the Daisy .22 wadcutters at a Wal-Mart near my home. Not a great pellet, but about the only thing that seems to shoot well in my TF-97. Also picked up a couple of tins of CPHP in .22 - haven't seen these on the shelf here before; only in .177. Today, I stopped by a Wal-Mart near work. The $2 Crosman Destroyer EX were marked down to $1. 1,000 pellets for $4 - can't beat that. And my Diana 36 loves 'em!

the walmart here by my place in Xenia has the crossman phantoms for 80 bucks (my boy Chase just bought himself one... been saving his B-day money and grass cutting money) and they also have the Crosman Titan .22 cal nitro piston rifle with wood thumnbhole stock for 149 I think it is....

The phantom seems to be VERY solid.... synthetic stocked but very heavy and solid not at all hollow feeling like some of the others seem to be.... sights seem to be alittle chintzy made out of all plasic but they do have a nice sight picture..... it will probably get scoped anyways so lol.... will vrun a few patches through it tonight and will try to put a few rounds through it tomorrow and see how she shoots

The walmart in Middletown, De looks like it's selling alot of it's air rifle and airsoft as well.  They had .22 cal Crosman  hollow points!!! for the first time ever.  I bought one in anticipation of a .22 cal marauder. hehe  They also had crosman .177 lead free ssp for 6.67.  I got them for my 1377c to see how they do in it.  Hopefully they'll get some more stuff back in.

Here in Jeff City they have reorganized the BB/Pellet gun area also.  The price tags are up for the $80 Phantom and $149 Titan... but no guns yet.
Didn't notice a pellet price markdown.  However they are still working on the area.

Well the phantom is pretty much a G1 extreme just without the muzzle brake.  I've never shot a big cat but I do own a Ruger Air hawk.  The crossman is alot smoother to cock with alot less recoil.  The trigger on the G1 is alot stiffer than the Air hawk, but in time it becomes less difficult to pull.  Both are very accurate shooters after you season the barrels.  Run a 1000 rounds through them, get familiar and they are great guns for the money
