what grain pellet are you using in the .177 it just seems even at that altitude 760 still seems on the low side for a 7.9 or lower. now my thoughts would be for target shooting i would pick the .177 for it gives me longer range and i like to shoot at longer distance 50 - 100 yards. but if it comes to hunting the .22 would be the choice since your most desirable shot comes from 25 - 35 yards and with some knock down. the choice really seems to be what you do the most target or hunt and i would be curious to know the fps spreed across different altitudes i know it slows down but by how much.
Actually shady I am getting far less than that with most pellets. 760 was with the RWS Super HP 6.9 grain. CPL, 7.9 grain are at 710. This is with the crosman seal and piston BTW. I am considering another takedown and inserting a washer or 2 in the top end of the piston to see if it helps.
According to some people on the forums we lose about 2.7 to 3% per 1000 foot above sea level (FASL) so even if I round down to 2% I lose approximately 140 FPS on a gun shooting 1000 fps. Or for an R9 which a B26 is cloned from producing 880 fps 0 FASL I would lose 123 fps giving me 757 fps.
The .22 cal only gets about 570 right now with a 14.3 I guess I should tear it down and install the crosman stuff to get the seal broke in prior to installing the vortek. This is also the one that has the gauge in the chamber.
Even my B28 just gets 995 max with CPL 7.9 grains. Which is just about 100 less than it should 0 FASL.
