1.  I just ran my 3000th pellet through my recently tuned gamo whisper .22.  I have read widely differing reports on how often the barrel should be cleaned from every tin to never if it is shooting properly.   It honestly is shooting more accurately now than ever.  What are your opinions?

2.  I have also read conflicting ideas on what is too heavy a pellet for this gun.  Can it safely shoot the 16grain predator polymags or 15.9 grain JSB Jumbo exacts?  I want to use the predators for varmit control but certainly do not want to ruin my rifle.

I only clean my rifles when accuracy starts to degrade.  If it's still shooting accurately then just leave it alone  :)

I've been shooting the predator pellets in my .22 hunting rifles for a long time and they haven't caused any problems.  I wouldn't use them all the time for target shooting  (to expensive for that anyway) but the casual amount of them you'll shoot for hunting applications won't hurt your rifles.

If the spring wire is 128dia or bigger in the power plant it'll handle a steady diet of 16gr's, if the spring wire is smaller than that 14.5 or 6gr pellet!

I agree with Jeff,

I dread cleaning an air gun, it has to be re-seasoned with lead before it returns to its accurate old self.

I only clean my air guns when accuracy suffers, and I can find no other cause for the accuracy loss !

I run Pred's through several of my shooter's with no ill result's I just don't run anything extra heavy through them. As the other family members said if she's grouping good no need to clean her. My Extreme has load's of lead through her and I haven't even thought about cleaning that barrel. Ed

My idea of cleaning a bore  is just to run some dry patches through to remove any material ejected from the compression tube.    I only really clean the bore on a new shooter before the first shot is fired.   It took me awhile to see that with AGs, less is better.
