Ok, so I ordered a Xisico XS-B3-1 .22 from Sportsmans Target
« on: August 04, 2007, 01:17:16 PM »
The one that looks like an AK47.  Looked interesting, cheap enough, and I read a very interesting and good review on it.  Anybody have one? Do ya like it? Comments? Cursings? Complaints? Ease of breakdown/tuning? Somebody? Anybody?
The review that sold me is below...

Well it reminds me of doing a tune on my B-3 from Cummons and my QB-57. Dave if you have read any of the members posts on the B-3 you would be surprised at how much power they have been able to pull out of them just by tuning and some creative mods. These kind of air rifles are great project guns to tinker with, especially with them being very low priced. I am sure that some of us have cursed them while doing a teardown and tune... I did:) a couple times.. hehe..... Tuning is easy and straight forward. You just need a new seal some proper lubes, spring compressor, mechanical skills and some patients..:)

Yep, that's what I'm lookin' for and I have all those skills and tools. I even got a bunch of seals and springs from JM to help me along the way.  My fingers are itching to get in there and "make it better". Gotta wait though, it's on its way, and then there's the wife...hands on her hips an stuff  :0  sayin' "what about that ant problem in the kitchen? Kin ya shoot them? Nope, didn't think so ya pooper".

Ed, I'm thinkin' that you know some stuff about B3s.
I read about one guy, I don't remember where it was now, but anyway he got rid of all his chinese airguns except the "B3 that looked like an AK47".
And then I read that review and... well...I had to get one. I mean, for a guy to just keep his B3?  There must be sumthin' about 'em that makes a man all soft and emotional or sumthin'.  So you like your B3s?  What's your opinion on them?  Can I turn that puppy into a wallipper?  Can you recall what JM spring will work in the B3-1? I'm pretty sure I've got the seals covered but for springs I've got a couple of E2000s, 1 firewire, 1 GRT, and 1 Apex Super MainSpring.

Dave, there's plenty of your fellow member's that also have the B3 hehe let's see Gene, Jeff, John etc. etc.. If I missed someone sorry and yes I have three B3's, two are tuned close to 700fps and the last one is slowly getting tuned. You can turn them $20.00 shooter's into a fine little Airgun with the proper TLC. I didn't go with the JM spring, there's a kit for the "B"'s that has a spring for the B4 I think that will work just fine. Most of your effort should go into the action, spring guide and piston and of coarse the trigger. POLISH! and DEBUR is a factor and I know if you have any question's we all will jump in and help you get her tuned up. If you go back several post in the China Gate you will find ton's of info, we had a B3 CRAZE for awhile and there are some link's that will help you in your B adventure. Any question's , feel free to ask. Ed

I got one too. Neat little fun gun. The major issue with mine and I haven't figured out a fix for it yet is; the scope rail is way off center from the boreline. I wanted to mount a red dot but it shoots way to the left. There isn't enough room to adjust the screw i would need to tap out a new hole. I thought of bending it and reattaching the rail to the reciever. I don't have a welder although spot welding did occur to me as well. Any suggestions? Other than that is pretty accurate at close range and mine chrono's high 390's to 430 depending on the pellet. I bought mine mainly because I own a powder version Romanian AK.

Nathan

Nathan, you can take the rail off and drill new holes in it to line it up. You wouldn't have to retap anything, just have to move it to the front, or back alittle. Just a thought.

This B3 stuff sounds almost as fun as my P17...maybe even funner!!!  Ed, that kit that you mentioned, is that the "cleaning kit" that I read about in several places...it has a spring, seals, and assorted cleaning stuff? I think you get 'em from south summit?

first question....
« Reply #10 on: August 05, 2007, 07:47:20 AM »
When I get it, should I just tear it down and clean it up, or shoot her a few times to see what she can do...like chrony it real quick so I have a record of what she was like right out of the box?  What if she's not a she?  I mean, I just realized that I don't know how to tell the difference between *_*_*_*_*_*es on these puppies. I mean, all Dianas have the lady on them, so you just know...but what clues do you look for in a B3 that would give away its gender?  :0

Pull it out of the box, might have to wipe some mystery grease off it then I would chrony it. When you do your tune, it will give you a idea of your effort's. As for Gender, if it got a pretty stock or wood if any and shoot's well out of the box, it's a girl. :) If it's got filler in the wood and is a pain in the bottom from start to finish, it's a boy hehe. Let Ed's gender standard be the standard from now on.  Therefore, I have now classified my guns as a mixed bunch. My Dianas are definitely girls. The rest of 'em well...I won't bore ya with that.

Now, I'm kinda getting confused a little though. So far, I've read quite a few B3 stories, following Gene's recommendation. Now...I haven't seen a pic of a B3 AK47.  Are all the B3s the same with just a different body style? Seems like when everyone speaks about their B3, it's of the standard rifle lookin' type.

I believe the action is pretty much the same But the stocks and sites vary depending on when and where it was made. Also you might wanna run a few clean patches through the barrel just to get any mystery goo out of it. But then shoot away right outta the box like Ed said. I also believe that the QF2 kit will fit the B3-ak47. With this you will get a little longer spring and a synthetic seal. The kit will improve the operformance of the gun. Then depending on how handy you are.... there are over the top mods like breech hole resizing, piston buttons for apex seals, different spring guide the white ones are junk. If the ak47 style has the same issues as the cummins B3 then you might have to get some shorter forearm stock screws to prevent grinding of the cocking lever assembly. Other than that enjoy your new B3!!

B3 ??   Did I hear someone mention a B3???  I love my B3's, fantastic little shooters, have taken quite a bit of backyard game with them.
