"Dropped in" the GRT III
« on: August 26, 2007, 01:44:58 PM »
I installed the GRT III in my Quest today. It was as easy to install as claimed and it made a world of difference. This thing is smoooth. I would be hard pressed to find any difference between this trigger and the R7/R9 triggers I have. I did not have to do any trimming on the trigger - don't see how it could be any better.

I picked up the Quest recently. I opened the box in the store and there were a few small dings in the wood and after some haggling we decided it had about 30 bucks worth of dings in it (a new rifle should not have ANY dings) and I walked out with a $69 Quest (plus tax of course). I steamed out the dings - hard to tell any were ever there. I will eventually redo the stock anyway.

I installed a one-piece mount and a 4-12x40 bushy AO I had, and had it shooting pretty well before the new trigger, but it is certainly much better now. The barrel lock-up seems to be fine and I am very pleased with this rifle. I have heard of some complaints with Quest but I apparently got a good one. Next step is to "de-twang" the spring. It is similar to the R9 in "twang" but both will be better with a smigen of spring tar.

The GRT III is a winner. Everybody should have one, or two, or three.

Cheers

Academy.  It came with a 4X scope which I did not want, but that's the way it came.  Sometimes you can find them for a good bit less without the scope, but this way I didn't have to pay for shipping and I could look at what I was buying.  The 4x scope is not parallax corrected but a friend wanted it.  Now we are both happy.
