Removal of front sight Gamo 440
« on: January 18, 2008, 06:26:03 AM »
I recently obtained a Gamo 440 and am very pleased with it. I'd like to remove the front sight completely (not just the Truglo bit). For clarity, my front sight body looks just like this:

or

or here

How is this front sight unit installed -- is it glued on? Any recommendations for removing it without destroying it (in case I wish to reinstall it later)?

Bryan, it is just pressed on. You can knock it off with a piece of wood. Just lay piece of wood against back edge of sight and tap with small rubber mallet. You will find that the end of barrel is smaller and is serrated. UGLY...:) Maybe a nice muzzle brake would look good in place of it..:)

Might depend on the production date...

That hood was a recent addition to the Gamo line a couple of years ago. If your gun is an earlier production rifle, the hood might not have been included from the factory.
