Crosman Phantom 1000 kit
« on: April 29, 2007, 01:52:23 PM »
I keep getting drawn to the ad on Pyramydair for the Crosman Phantom 1000 kit, I just really love the way it looks.  The price isn't to bad,, I was just wondering........anyone have one of these things and are they worth buying??  I looked in the the Review Gate but didn't see any posts.  Thanks.

It's a restocked Quest. The Phantom, Quest and Remington Genesis are all the same rifle.

BUT, they're generally good shooters. The firing cycle is kinda roungh and loud. Good bit of recoil and twang as well. But if you get past those minor faults, it should be a great rifle!

Jeff, I have a Phantom and I really like it.  I have thousands of pellets through it and it still shoots hard and accurately.  I might suggest you look at the WalMart G1 Extreme which is a phantom (no open sights) a decent 3x9 AO Mildot scope and a solid one piece mount.  $126.00 at the local Wally World here.  If you would get a bad one, WalMart will take it back.  Also you can get a new spring and seal for $9.30 from Crosman so rebuilding one is cheap and quick if needed.  Let us know what you decide.

I looked at the kit, and you do get the same thing at Walmart for $25 cheaper with the G1 Extreme.  Beware of the shattering stock though.  The shattering pieces hurt pretty good when they smack your hand while cocking.  Fortunately, they missed the eyes.  This was after about 300 pellets.
