exactly....the movie explains it all.

The .177 is like an ice pick and the .22 is more like a blunt hammer.  But that is not saying the .22 can act in the same manner as the .177 when its velocity is increased as J. just showed.   Thats why pellet guns kill way out of proportion for the power level.  I believe the slower speed pellet guns are actually more deadly than really fast ones.  I've been told it's due to dwell time in the body, the pellet in certain cases dumps more energy simply because it's slower.

To me 800-850 fps in .177 and about the same speed in .22 is about ideal for animals such as the squirrel or rabbit.  But the .22 is almost always more effective at least in small game animals.
I like fancy bb guns

Hi Gary :)
This subject has been visited many times but here's my few pennies worth....
If you hit a small mamal such as a rabbit in the head with either .177 or .22 at 30 yards it's going to die. Hit it in the body area with a .177 at the same range and you may injure it and leave it to a painful lingering death but a .22 will probably kill it outright. So you have to be honest and ask yourself if you are able to make head shots all the time and choose .177? Otherwise play a little safer and  go for .22. Good thing about .177 is that the ammo' is cheaper :) That's my take on it. I might be wrong and stand to be corrected but that's OK as I learn something here everytime I log onto to GTA :)
It\'s OK it\'s just a bruise!

I use my .177 pistols/rifles mainly for target/plinking, and my .22 rifles to take-out nut buzzards, and other pests.

Just my personal preference, which means absolutely nothing to anyone except me!
