: My Ultimate Airgun
: jon September 11, 2008, 01:55:55 PM
I have finally put together what in my mind is my dream gun, it took awhile to get it done but now that it's finished I couldnt be any happier with it.

It's a CRX with a custom stock and a Leupold competition scope on top.

Thanks for fixing the picture, It looks very downgraded in quality....anyhoo yes I have been shooting it and as you would expect it shoots as accurately as I could hope for.  It is capable of less than half inch groups at 55 yards off a rest.  30 yards groups are one hole off a rest.

The scope is very nice too, it far exceeds my MTC in quality and the rangefinding is 1 yard increment accurate out to 55 yards.  The stock is the best part of the rifle, it is nearly 3 inches wide near the knee area and the weight is all centered so it has steadied up the rifle quite a bit.  I'm still getting used to it but I shot a 52 out of 60 a few weeks back which is a really good score for me.

Jon, you strive for perfection buddy and that is perfection..:) I have to say that when you make up your mind on what you want you do not leave anything out..:) Very admirable buddy. Another shoot in two weeks and you should be blowing a 60 out of 60..:) Best of luck and thanks for sharing a beautiful piece of work with us.

That aint no $500.00 bbgun ($500.00 being the HIGH price we paid starting out). Got a picture of the right side? I am thinking I need something similar in the grip area though I have grown very found of our Purple Heart stock. Hopefully you can bring that one to the GOB club and pass it around for some evaluation!  I hear the TN State match is in late October early November?  We need to (kindly/gently) lean on the stock maker to attend also, I suspect he shoots well and  maybe he could bring some of his stocks he just built for fun.
Looks like you may have built a keeper. (I DO want to shoot that one).

Very nice piece of art. I'm surprised you take it outside lol. You can't go wrong with Leupold scopes top notch glass ultra reliable. Have fun with her but don't drive it like you stole it. hehe

Oh I shoot it outside often, I sweat on it, carry it around, and shoot thousands of pellets through it.  This is no safe queen.  The guys that showed up to Gene's know that it doesnt just sit in the case to be admired.  I think I almost shot a 1,000 pellets in just one day.

I would never spend the money I did on this gun if I wasnt going to enjoy shooting it often.

I am going to do my best to get to the match, I still need a few more ranges to complete my sidewheel.

Anytime Gene, I go all the way or nothing at all.  As I said before this is the only airgun I have so I put everything into it.  Cant wait to you are feeling chipper again so we can come by and shoot together again.

I was thinking about putting together a back-up rig that would look similar to this gun except on a S400 platform and a cheaper scope just in case my baby breaks down.
: Do you readjust the stock for standing shots?
: 3n00n September 12, 2008, 03:01:08 PM
Looks like it'll adjust fairly easily.

Yes and no it just depends.  The silver knob is just finger tight and very easy to adjust on the fly.  I actually adjust it more in the sitting position than anything
