Hope you all read the story from the previous thread. Here's the follow up. After the first nutter we took a break to target shoot and make sure our rifles were all dead on nails accurate. After about an hour of hitting cans, shoot-n-c's, plastic army men, and lifesavers we see two grey shadows running from limb to limb about 125 yds. in the distance. We are fortunate to have a family lake house where we get to target shoot in the driveway towards the woods and have forest all around the front to hunt in. We all seem to see the grey shadows at the same time, look up from our rifles and then at each other, nod, and without a word we grab a few pellets and off we go toward the woods (we are---Me (Dad) and boys ages 11 and 9). We make our way around the group of trees where they were seen last. More stalking, waiting, waiting. Then silence, then its as if they can't take the silence---they make a break for it, running and leaping again---we follow, cirlcing around the dozens oftrees trying to keep them in sight, man they are tricky, doubling back, up then down then across to another tree, then back again, then flat--glued to the branches. Older son gets a bead on one "Dad! don't move, I see him, I see him"--he urgently whispers. I'm a statue, I hear silence. I'm bursting, I want to move but I don't dare, 30 seconds still silence, then POP!! goes the Shadow s1k with the new CDT trigger---I throw the 34 to my shoulder for the follow up shot in case of a miss--but no need, crash, crash, thump--he's on the other side of the trees--20 yrds. from me and there stands Jr. with a huge smile---his first nutter (he's gotten 22 chipmunks in the last year with the 640.)

Also included are a chipmunk taken off the woodpile at 17 yds. with thw Shadow 640 and CPHP's and another Nutter taken from 23 yds. with s1k and beeman crowmag.

Bret,
That's awesome that you bring your kids along on a hunt.  It seems they can hold their own.  Must 've had a great teacher ;)
Fine shooting on those nutters, big & small  :-)

Thanks Harry for the comments, I try to teach them(what little I know :=) whenever I get a chance---they do like to hunt--can't wait for'em to be big enough to carry shotguns in the field, rifles in the stands, etc...

take care,
