I'm selling of my TF 89. I bought it from Vinceb. The gun shoots very well and has a very nice trigger. I have not done anything to the gun but Vince my have. I have an extra seal to go with it. The only problem with the gun is the stock cracked in front of the trigger guard. The front screw was replaced with a nut and bolt as it does not need to be removed to get the gun out of the stock. I haven't sat down and shot groups with it. I have shoot my 3" steel swinging chicken at 25 yards off hand with no problems. No scope has iron sites front and rear. Shots RWS domes and points around 740-750 and loves both those pellets. Only selling to generate funds for something different. Will post pics later tonight. 125.00 shipped east of the Mississippi 10.00 more for west coast.

Possible trade to Howie. Will know more after Friday.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif)

When I had it, it was only a small crack on the inside - and most AR1000 variants I've seen had the same problem. That's why I replaced the screw with a nut and bolt - to keep the crack from spreading.
-
I looked while Howie and I were on the phone the other night and NO it does not show through the bottom. For some reason I thought it had gone all the way through after shooting it a while but guess not. We talked about filling it in with and epoxy type material to stop any further spreading.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif)

I think you can buy a new stock from Compassaco for $25.00..:) Gene

Hey Gene thanks for the info. I never thought to check there. I maybe trading guns with howie the wood master so he will look at it if I can get by there today. Thanks buddy.

Wood screws tend to split wood because they function to a certain extent like a wedge. But I believe a nut and bolt are far less likely to force a crack or split between the wood grains, which is why I did that.
And like I said - most AR1000 stocks I've seen (4 out of 5, I believe) had all developed the same internal crack.

Traded for the BSA Meteor. ;-)

Now that I've run about 100 rds through the 89 iit is able to do one holers very nice gun it will take a little time getting used to since most of my guns are shorter, but this is a keeper thanks jason i'm having a ball, ihope you like the BSA as well. Hay Vinceb nice trigger job howie1a

Hey Howard, I own a TF-89 also and just love it. It is suprisingly accurate for a .22. You can really tune the trigger on them also. I love to sit down at my bench rest and shoot the 89..:) I can never miss with that big brute. It is my only magnum springernow and it spits out the Superdomes at an average of 825 with a less than 13 overall deviation. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I am enjoying mine..:)
RWS Superdomes 14.50 average weight

To say the least. I have wanted to try my hand at a home tune job on my TF89, but I'm a little leery of going inside that particular model. I saw a post here on the GTA where you have to fashion a tool ( broomstick was used IIRC) to get out the trigger mech out. Where can one get replacement springs and seals if needed? Compasseco? JM have anything that fits?

I would not suggest a piece of wood. Very dangerous if it broke while spring was compressed. I used delrin round stock about 1 1/8" dia. Then I used the lathe and mill to make a real nice tool. You probably do not need the fancy equipment to make it but you do need a drill moter for sure if you do it that way.'

Hey Howie, I'm hoping to put some through her tomorrow or Friday because I'm off. I 'm not sure it will happen tomorrow gotta pack up for the gun show this weekend but we'll see if I can get done early enough to shoot it tomorrow. Glad you like the 89. I may pick up another one down the road but I have my sights set on something else for now. Thanks again.

gene, you're really good at makin me want an 89...how much for a tune on one?

....is basically the same as the seal Norica used (uses) in the Hammerli Razor and the Beeman GS1000/GS950/S1. I suspect the Razor/GS1000 spring will also work...
Gene, can you confirm this? I seem to remember you mentioning something about this some time ago.
-
Vince, if I remember correctly the springs are different on the Beeman GH-950compared to the TF-89 and the seal on the Beeman was a generic seal. I do know that the tolerances vary greatly on the action bores so no one set seal will work on every air rifle that comes off the a********^%embly line. Like the Hammrli Titan, the action bore was tight unlike the Beeman and TF. All the same air guns and trigger a********^%emblies but like I said tolerances vary greatly.

..do you mean one with a dovetail button?
I know the Beeman S1 had a single-screw seal like the AR1000 series, and according to Beeman the GS1000 seal is the same as the S1. Like I said before I also installed a Hammerli Razor seal into a TF89.
