i was wondering if anyone knew the rate of twist on a .22 cal. pellet rifle?is it the same as a 22 rimfire?i was told it was but want your advice.my plan is to make a .22 cal barrel for my Gamo Hunter Extreme.my next question is that even possible for the Hunter Extreme?

1 in 16 is the norm for Rimfire. So far my airguns are the same with the exception of my South Summit B3's. They've got a 1 in 15 twist.

Are you thinking of using a rimfire barrel for an airgun?

i wouldn't use a firearm barrel for an airgun...they're actually diff. diameters...a .22 firearm barrel is larger than a .2 airgun barrel...if you're gonna go with a .22 for your hunter extreme, i would get a lw barrel...doesn't get more accurate.  they have 2 diff. .22's ...one for firearms, one for airguns.

Hello Robert,

I have had the same thought myself. There is alot of stuff out there for rimfire shooters and it would be nice to use some of the technology. Jaymo as I recall was looking at pellet swaging to do just that.

Yep. I plan on making some pellet swaging dies, as soon as I can get back into my shop and spool up the lathe. I'm still hammering out the details of my own version of the Paco Kelly accurizer tool, which will be used in a reloading press, as opposed to being struck with a hammer. I'm trying to decide on a source for cores. Guess I could make a round nosed mold for casting cores.
Seems wasteful to buy rimfire ammo just to pull the bullets to swage. Maybe buy some #4 bucksnot or#3 buck swaged down to size and shape.

What got me thinking about this die design is a pair of bullet swaging dies I bought off Ebay for .44 and .45 calibers.

So what is the measurement of a .22 cal air rifle barrel? If I remember right .22 long rifle is .222, but 22 mag. is .224
