I have a bird feeder (which my wife calls the bait station) and I really enjoy the wide variety of birds that come and go. As with most creatures of the woods the birds table manners are on par with a one year old, bird seed everywhere. Obviously this make for a great opportunity to get a free lunch for the squirrels. There is this one squirrel that comes in and just eats until there is no more seeds on the ground, he keep it very neat under the feeder. About two week ago more squirrels started showing up now as long as they are not messing with the feeder I'm not bother by their presents, actually I kinda like watching them.
I had a function to attend in the morning last Monday and when I returned home I saw my feeder on the ground. well it's not badly damage I said to myself. I did a quick repair job filled it back up and hung it out again. In no time the gang of birds were back, and the one squirrel that always cleans up. On the next morning I'm drinking my coffee trying to get the shakes (LOL), as I look out my window there is a troublemaker, hanging on to the feeder. QUICK...downstairs grab the CFX run out the basement door....AAARRRGGG....not there anymore he had hopped down and mingled with the crowd...That same afternoon when returning home from work I see him, this SOB is back at it again..MAN I'M GOING TO NAIL HIM... I slip in side grab a gun slip back outside peek around the house and....he's gone...I take a walk over to the feeder, a couple of squirrel are now about 30yards into the woods looking for nuts...I can't ID the bandit so I can't take a shot... I'll just let the feeder run dry and all the over aggressive nutters usually look else where for an easy meal..
I let two full days go by. I refill the feeder and inspect it now the thing looks like squirrels have been using it as a chew toy..Oh Well... within one day the birds were back along with Mr. reliable. I was watching for maybe 20 mins and three more squirrels moved in. Now I'm watch with the hope that I have a respectable bunch here. As I watched I notice that the birds were no longer coming in and out. Four nutters can clean up a mess made out of bird seed pretty quick. Well when the food was gone one of the squirrels looks at the feeder and realized that the birds were not doing there job and need help. Up the thin steel rod he went...quick as a flash my mind was already cleaning him. I grabbed a gun step outside watched where he went after jumping down off the feeder...I couldn't take a shoot, wrong angle, move 20 feet to my left to put a better bead on him. He looked at me and he knew something wasn't right________around a tree over a branch and out of range...What's wrong I thought Hmmmm.
Stake out time. The next day came I went through my routine and sure as the sun was coming up there he was the next squirrel to die from lead poisoning. Grabbed the CFX walked out onto the porch and he was gone so I walk over to the side of the house and pulled up a piece of lawn. about 5min is all it took. He wanted some action and I wanted to give it to him. I waited just to make sure..............UP onto the rod then to the feeder. I got up slowly and walked towards him keeping the wishing well between us. I stopped right at the wishing well, cock the gun and aroused the squirrels suspicion off the feeder over to a tree stump looking around like he was waiting for some one to come out of the house. Surprise I'm already here. Placed the cross hairs right on his noggin. He fell asleep real quick.
The gun Gamo CFX with a RWS superdome at 15 yards.

Nice one Bart!!
Wow, you are a patient man. I'd have taken all of them if they'd let me but then again, I really don't like squirrels much.
Great story and I'd wager well worth the wait for you.
Nice shot too!
