: Daisy 1000 Kill #2

Took the Daisy/Winchester 1000 out again this afternoon for another walk in the woods looking for squirrels. Went to a large section of woods down near the bay, the area is basically 1/2 woods and thickets and 1/2 marsh land.

Had a about an hour of daylight left so began still hunting down the trails that meander throught the property.  Saw one fat squirrel right away feeding on the ground, but he saw me first and disappeared into a bramble patch so thick that there was no way I was going in there.  Gave up on him and kept working the trails.

Wasn't seeing anything, except a couple of nice deer (may head back there tomorrow with my bow), so decided to still hunt my way back to the truck.  Was almost back to the truck when I saw a large grey squirrel dashing across the forest floor heading for a large pine tree.  He got up the pine and disappeared into the thick branches near the top.

There wasn't much daylight left so I back off a little, sat down, and waited.  Sure enough about 10 minutes later I guess he thought the coast was clear and he started moving in the top of the tree.  Distance was 20 yards, finally got a clear shot, pulled the trigger and down he came.  The .177 predator pellet hit him in the shoulder and dropped him clean.  He was still breathing and twitching after he hit the ground, but he wasn't going anywhere and he died within a few seconds.

While heading back to the truck saw two more squirrels running through the tree tops, but there was no way they were gonna stop long enough for a shot.  I had my daughter take a couple of pics when I got home.  (I know, it's the same pose as all my previous posted pics but it's the best I can do)  :)

Hey Gene,

Yeah, it the Daisy 1000 .177 synthetic stock rifle I bought at Walmart the other week, I love that little gun !!  I ordered a laser/light combo to mount on the scope so I can set it up for night hunting at the duck farm.  They're having a raccoon problem at night, killing ducks, so I'm gonna whack em.

Matter of fact yesterday I received the Winchester 1000 wooden stocked gun I ordered from Cabelas,,, really nice lookin stock on it and it feels great.  I haven't mounted the scope yet, have to wait for my next days off, but I'm dying to get it scoped and ready to hunt.

Also received the Beeman .22 cal Goldfinger I ordered from Bass Pro.  What a beautiful rifle :) !!  I'll take a picture of the new Winchester and the Goldfinger and post em.  I fell it love with the Beeman the minute I took it out of the box and held it !!  Only bad thing is that now I wanna order it in .177 cal so I'll have a matched set.

LOL Jeff

Like a kid with a new toy hehe.. I know the feeling. Ya those Beeman's have a nice look to them. Never held one but I am considering a .20 possible for my next springer. Have fun and enjoy...:)

We all will be waiting for you reviews and pics. I would also  be interested in your opinion of the laser/light combo.

Thanks
Gene

Hey Gene,

Once I get the laser/light combo all set up and get a chance to hunt with it I'll make sure I post a review.  I'm looking forward to giving it a try at the duck farm at night.
