: A little tree rat action
: November 17, 2006, 08:04:41 AM
So my posts are not going ot be as long and defenatly not as interesting as Jeff's. But ill give it a whirl.
We have had an issue with the squrrels digging on our roof. For whatever reason I have no idea. But I decided enough is enough. Ive been trying to take out the guilty as much as possibal.

So today while I was laying in my bed studying watching my favortie show Lost. I heard the scratching, and immedatly knew what it was. Grabed my shadow and headed outside along with a few predators. Well there he was digging away at the roof (no idea why they do this). My dad dosent want to have a new one put in because this is asbestos and it will cost way to much. Anyways back to the story.
My shots range from 15-30 yards depending where I walk out of my house. This one was about 15-18 yards away. I put the hairs on his lil noggin took a deep breath and let one go down range. Well first shot his right where I wanted it too and it droped like a rock. One or two twitches and it was all done.

Heres some pics...

Great shootin Jason, Great pics too !!  That looks like a nice fat bushytail.  Is he in the freezer now?

I had the same problem a couple of years ago with a bunch of squirrels.  They actually chewed through the roof shingles and then burrowed into the roof itself and made a nest.  I'd wake up in the early morning hours and hear them scrambling around inside the wall.  Drove me nuts.  I called an exterminator and when he gave me the estimate to get rid of them I told him "no thanks".

At that time all I had was my .20 cal. Benjamin Blue Streak pump gun, which I still have, so I got to work.  Got up early a couple of mornings in a row and got rid of my squirrel problem for free.  Maybe that's what they're trying to do on your roof, get in and make a nest.

Anyway, great shootin and really enjoyed the pics.  If you get any more make sure you post the story and pics.

Jeff

He was a fat little rat for shure,I had my neighbor clean him for me. Ill admit im not very good at it, But I can cook! So figured a few cases of beer in exchange for some cleaned rats was worth the trade.

Love those melon shots, clean and to the point. Nice shooting and put another in the chamber, his kin are coming.
