: Harry is officially in the house! :-)
: only1harry November 22, 2008, 10:21:30 AM
I didn't even know we had this forum until yesterday when one of my posts got transferred here!
I 've been hanging out at the Hunting forum too much so it was time to visit other great GTA forums.

I didn't want to admit I was a "darksider" I guess, but after the purchase of my 2nd PCP, I finally realized it.

Here are my bodyguards:
"Hogie" (from Airhog shroud) .22 cal. and "Oakie" (from the Oak stock) .25 cal.

You know you got the bug bad, when you start naming your guns.  Acutally when I owned 1 Condor it was easy.  "I reach for the Condor.."  but when you have 2, now you have to differentiate which one :-)

Welcome to da houzzz!!!!

I've always liked the Lemak guns, his stuff is just so much different than anyone elses....looks like front and hind legs with the bottle as the tail:)

Thanks Dan.  Yeah the Lemak guns are very unique which was the main reason I bought this gun from its 1st owner.

Yep, it looks like many things, someone even said a "Star Wars gun" in the Hunting forum, "machine gun", and other things.

Jeff,
Someone moved one of my posts about the .25 Condor to here last night.  I don't know who it was but Ed moved it back to the hunting forum shortly after.  That's how I discovered this forum when I saw my post disappear.  I guess I had never noticed this section before because it is way down on the Home page..  So blame one of the moderators that moved my post out of the hunting forum :-)

I think you know me better than that.  The GTA hunting forum is my 2nd home! :-)  I 'm a hunter at heart as you are.  Hunters are loyal to their hunting forum and buddies.

Hi Marvin.. been a while since I saw you at the hunting forum :)

Both guns have "heavy" 24" LW barrels.
Now that I looked at the pic more carefully the .25 next to the shrouded .22 looks like it has a shorter barrel.  The long shroud on the other Condor gives the illusion that the Condor has a a ~20-21" barrel doesn't it?  It's just the way the pics are.  The .25 will be wearing a shroud eventually.  It's too loud.

Thank you . And yes the shroud and the angle of the shot through it off a little . Have you ever ran the .25 through the chrony ? Marvin

Thanks guys.

Ed you have eyes everywhere!!  Nothing escapes you.. no wonder no critter is safe with you around :)

Marvin:  No I just got the .25 a couple of days ago and only shot it once to make sure it's working.  My ears stopped ringing finally last night :)  It is too loud for indoor (and outdoor) shooting without a shroud.  I was thinking of putting it through the chrony but I was afraid the air alone would damage the chrony  :-)   I need to get a shroud for this bad boy! hehehe

Marvin since you are so anxious I can tell you what the builder/tuner of this gun told me a couple of days ago.

The gun with a 2800psi fill shoots 42gr pellets in the 950's (84-85fpe).  With a 3K psi fill it's very close to 1,000fps (93fpe).  Apparently though the shots are more consistent with 2800psi from what I gathered.

I can also tell you that my .22 Condor which also has a heaiver hammer & spring plus the high-flow valve, shoots mid-70's FPE with 32gr Eley slugs.
I have lots of strings from the .22 but now I just shoot it at the lowest power setting with 2500psi fill because I mainly use it in the backyard.  With the power wheel all the way down the Airhog Condor starts at 1,010fps (+/- 10fps) with Kodiaks, 910fps with 32gr Eleys, and about 930fps with 28.4gr Eun Jins).  So 58-59fpe (47 with Kodiaks) is the lowest I can get the gun down to with a reasonable fill of 2500psi.  When the .22 beast gets filled with 2700-2800psi and I crank the PW up to 5 or 6, it just goes nuts and the #'s are off the chart with the Kodiaks but more manageable with the 28-32gr pellets.  I really don't know why I got the .25 when I have enough power with the .22, but I couldn't resist that stock and they way it looked :-)  Oh well it's a sickness I guess..(!)

Harry thanks . I only fill my .177 to 2000 PSI and get good results that are listed here . Have you ever tried a 2000 PSI fill with your .22 ? The reason why I ask about the .25 is I have thought that I some day might sale my 9 M.M . 201 S Career and get a .25 barrel for the Condor . Marvin

Marvin,

Not sure what you are looking for in a .25 but with just a heavier hammer you can easily get 80fpe and a little more with the newer AF high-flow valve.  To get 90fpe out of it (w/42gr pellets) you might need a little valve work (like polish, etc.).  My .25 has the valve worked with a custom tophat and valve stem.  You can actually get 90+fpe with heavier pellets than the usual 42gr EunJin/SamYang without too much modding.  There are 50-60gr .25 pellets out there that will give you lots of Kinetic Energy.

I have tried 2200psi (not 2K) on the .22 and it shoots very nice and mouse-fart quiet with lots of "lower velocity" shots.  I like the 2500psi fill because I get 25 shots in the 900's (w/Kodiaks) and about another 25 in the 800's.  I do some night hunting for possom and racoon and like to be in the 40-50fpe range when hunting for these large critters, although I know I don't need it.  It's a psychological thing.. but they are tough critters and I like to bring them down with 1 shot so the extra power does not hurt.  There 's also fox and coyote around here so you never know what's going to show up at the bait 17yds behind my house.  Yesterday it was a "warmer" day so I climbed up and repositioned my outdoor lights in the back so now the light reaches farther out (25-30yds) from the house.  I have since moved the bait out to 23yds where the woods/tree-line starts where the nacternal critters might feel more comfortable.  I then shot at paper on a 2x4" that I positioned next to the bait and the 32gr Eley slugs (look just like .22 bullets) @900fps (57fpe) with a fresh 2500psi fill and at the lowest PW setting were sticking out of the back of the 2x4" so I think I 'm all set for some night action, hopefully soon :-)  It's been 3 weeks since I got a possom and 1.5wks since a large ~25lb racoon came to feast on the hot dog I had cut up in pieces, but he heard me putting the window up and took flight since he had eaten almost everything by the time I woke up (alarm went off at 4:30am!), got the gun, loaded it, and tried to get into position.   So you see why I don't normally fill to 2000psi or less.. ;)
