I've often wondered the same thing as I also have a 12fpe Air Arms gun.  I'll tell you what, if you send yours in, then we'll both know....deal???  Didn't think that would work, dangit!  Maybe someone will chime in that knows.

If I am correct David Kirby explained it to me but basically if I am correct there is a screw that you can adjust internally that will give you high FPE. I think the Pomona Air Guns mod is they expose the screw somehow. David would know.

There is an air restrictor screw ; it's a tiny grub screw located under the screw on the right hand side of the receiver just below the receiver screw at the breech . You can remove the outer screw , then with the smallest metric allen wrench (I think it's a 1.5) turn the grub screw inside counterclockwise to adjust the power up to around 815-825 at the peak of the power curve. The power mod at Pomona is a knob(screw) that's installed that from what I've read will allow four complete turns of power adjustment from around 400pfs to over 900fps . Just remember , the higher the power the more air you'll be using . IIRC on a carbine you'll get about 20 full power shots. kirby

but when people say "pamona power mod"  "I"  think of his mod to turn power down on the older models which had no pwer adjustment, we had this done to an AA410EXTRA .177, this allows it to turn down only as far as 900fps.
I believe to increase the power of a 12fpe model is slightly involved but on a US model "might" just be the transfer port (I think there is more but???). Again maybe with the "S" model it is a different beast? "If" the air arms owners club ever gets there site fixed (redirect ad thing) the information you need would be there.
Also rather than a "knob" at least on ours it looks like this:

But this is what Rob in NC wrote about his S400C 12fpe with the Pomona power mod. kirby

Here are some rough numbers with it...all using 7.9gr CPL's

screw all the way in.... ~500fps
 1/4 turn out............~600fps
 1/2 turn out.............~700fps
 1 full turn..............~800fps
 2 full turns.............~900fps

I've not went above that. I've been shooting most of the time at 600fps and I get a ton of shots. Not done a string yet, but it just keeps going. I figure I'll keep it at 600fps for most of what I do and turn it up and verify sight in when I choose to take it hunting.
