...for the CAT!
Just before heading off to work this morning I grabbed the gas-rammed HW90 and a couple Polymag's and headed out front to keep my gas ram warmed up. I tend to think that if she doesn't get used a couple times a week she doesn't sit right. So as soon as the report sounded from the gun, from the corner of my eye moving up a tree limb is this nutter with a pecan jammed into his jaws. HOT DAMN! I had one more Polymag in my hand... now let me go back a bit; I'd been having some accuracy problems with this Weihrauch. Last saturday I'd used-up the last of my Crow Mags trying get some decent groups- well, I got em' within an inch pattern but was still getting flyers up and right. After retiring from my front yard shooting range I layed the gun down on the bed, pulled out a flat-head screw-driver and went to work on the stock screws. The left screw only needed a quarter of a turn, the right screw went half to three-quarters of the way around. I hadn't shot er' since the tightening of those screws until this morning.
I got that nutters eyeball in the crosshairs and PACK! Right between the ear and the eye- accuracy problem solved! That sucker fell outa the tree and before I could get the camera Crap(synonym)Head grabbed that squirrel and took off with him! My first Weihrauch HW90 kill and my cat reaped the benefits. Sorry about not having any pics- kitty got first dibs!

Well, there lies the problem.....GRAB the nutter before you go rummaging for your camera. Hope you learnt your lesson. (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif) Btw, in keeping with the occasion.....the cat THANK YOU very much for the early Thanksgiving harvest. Excellent shooting at that nutter..congrats.

I sure got a kick out of it... the nutters are grabbing all they can right now before going into hybernation. I had no idea he was even in that tree until I fired and he moved. Last nutter I got my kitty got there before I did and he just looked STUFFED by mid-afternoon! I don't always have the time clean these nutters when I get em'. I'm glad I've got my little four legged "cleaner" for the remains!

Matt I'm glad you figured out your accuracy problem.. I knew that hw was a shooter... good ta see ya in the huntin gate...

...man, I just couldn't figure out why the hell this thing was shooting like that. I'm hoping that was it(stock screws). I mean, the scope could very well be blown but there's not enough evidence from what I'm seeing to support that. I'm getting home after dark now so any shooting time I've got is subject to weekends and mornings before work. Gonna have to see what that thing does on Thanksgiving day. Then again, I might be a poor shot anyway... got some Courvoisier and ice planned for while I'm cooking! I'll be up at 5:00am just as I always am on holidays- I'm the chef!
Anyway, just gonna have to see through a multitude of shots if that was the problem or not!

Good shooting Matt! Nice HW90 first kill :-)
That's happened to me twice now. First time it was the neighbor's dog (I think he did it to me twice) that grabbed the nutter and ran, and a few weeks ago it was another neighbor's cat. She grabbed him while I went insise to get the camera and the knife to clean him. Kinda sucks standing there helpless watching your quarry run away in another animal's mouth.. The thought crossed my mind to cut a little piece of this cat's tail off with a pellet, but I quickly regained my posture and figured it wasn't worth stressing over, plus I don't want to get charged with animal cruelty. He 's been coming around a lot and sits and waits for me to shoot one. He waits under the trees and watches me. He 's acquired a taste for squirrel. I run him off most of the time to show him he 's not welcomed. It's worked. He rarely comes around now and he 's very careful when he passes through. All I have to do is "sssshhhh" and he runs like hek. He was also stealing my coon/possom bait every other night until I finally shot a pellet in a 2x4" about 2-3ft from him and he got scared and ran. The bait 's been untcouhed since unless the other more "important" night critters come and clean me out like last night..

My cat is fully welcome for his feast HOWEVER- there was a day last July when I'd gotten 3 squirrels and there were more to boot... I got this idea in my head that I wanted squirrel tacos and when my fourth nutter hit the ground he made off with it. I was a little ticked but if it makes my kitty happy- all the more power to him!
