Blow's my mind. :o :) :D 8) I hope you all have been following the post from Gene about the RWS 94 that he had just received , she's a fine shooter and then proceeded to take her down and give it his MAGIC TOUCH! :) He continued to add to his post about the progress of the tune and result's which were nothing less the OUTSTANDING! 8) Now comes a call from my good friend and airbud several days ago and were just chewing the fat about airguns, what else lol and out of nowhere Gene tells me that he's sending the 94 to me for a early CHRISTMAS :o gift..............I was speechless for a moment and if I could have got through the phone I would have cried on his shoulder from the unselfish generosity that he had just displayed. :) I still cannot find the right words to tell Gene how much this means to me and for a man and family member that I have not met face to face I held him close like a father for several years now, no your not that old buddy hehehe. This is a gift that will hold a close place in my heart from a Gentleman and true friend that I hold dear, GENE, YOUR ARE ONE OF A KIND!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Today the 94 arrived double boxed from FedEx and upon opening it my eyes looked at to me a new shooter, the bluing is superb and looking at her from butt to muzzle she was OUTSTANDING.!!!! She's a RWS from Spain but the care that go's into the RWS's shines through with this one as well. The wife watched me as I sat on the floor with box, bubble wrap and foam padding around me. Eye's glazed over as I held her, the shooter hehe and shouldered her again and again. Your like that kid off of the Christmas Story she said and I just mumbled something in airgun lingo and caressed the 94. I at last cleaned up my mess and grabbed a few CPHP to see how she shoot's, cocking her was beyond smooth with no sound, nothing. The engagement was even silent WOW!, THE VARMENT'S WILL NEVER HEAR HER COMING!. :) Pellet in , target lined up and started the trigger pull and Gene did touch on what he did to the trigger and it is smooth with a slight spring felt but still smooth enough to not mess with accuracy. :) The first shoot sounded like a whip snapping, :o not from the action which if you have had the pleasure of shooting one of Genes tuned shooter's you know it's just a solid sound with no action sound, none, zip, zero. :D The whip cracking sound came from the fps that the pellet was moving and it was moving and I think it hurt my pellet trap box lol. Gene's post on the chrony say's that he was pushing 8.3 grain's of lead through her I think and it was in the 900's. :o :D I did get some time to mount a scope and get it sighted in close enough to put a bad hurting on a nutter at 30yards and speaking with Gene earlier we were thinking of slowing it down some and I put some Discovery 10.5 grains through her. The accuracy was great and they were still hammering my target box. I will fine tune her tomorrow and run her through the chrony to see where she's sitting. I must say again Gene went above and beyond in his generosity with this gift and he is the perfect example of what this forum stands for, truly A GREAT PLACE TO BE!!!!!!!!! :) and people who one can call family. Gene "you are a cut above the rest" my friend and heart felt thank you's go out to you from me airbud. Oh I also told him that I would come down and sweep the shop floor's of shavings, degrease airguns, camo and polish equipment and walk his guard dog's. :) Also take several critter's down to make a homecook meals. I know you've seen some pic's but I'm gong to give you some more, I want to get her scoped in tight and get her out tomorrow for a hunt. I cannot thank you enough Gene and I'll take care of her and prove her hunting skill's that I know she can do when put into the field. Ed

Ed:
I can only say that you have it absolutely right! I had the pleasure of having Gene up to my place a few weeks ago (I had been wanting to reciprocate for the invitation to the fun shoot at his place this summer). Had a chance to hang with the big guy and shoot a few BB guns. I happened to admire his sweet-shooting little CZ 634 and mentioned I would like to have one -- and the next thing I know, Gene posts this:
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/airguns/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=12145&mid=95030#M95030
What can you say? Anyway, I plan to get together with Gene again this weekend, pick up both him and the new CZ, and head back up to the mountains for another weekend of shooting. We will probably be eating left over turkey sandwiches and re-heated mashed potatoes, but I am really looking forward to it. I can sincerely say that I have had the pleasure and the privilege of meeting a few of the GTA family in person, and getting to know more than a few of you on line. And this is not meant in any way to diminish those who have become good friends and trusted dealers and advisers alike, who have been absolutely great to me -- names we all know. But if there is anyone with a bigger, better heart and more skill with air gun than Gene, I haven't met 'em (yet) -- and there are definitely some fine folks on the GTA. What a great bunch of folks to know -- especially Gene. Thanks again, Big Guy!

Gene did a fantastic job on my NRA SHADOW SUPREME.. I know what ya mean about the single report when the trigger is pulled.. It sends a .177 into warp drive and hits like a tun of bricks.. Gene is great guy, I have had a few good conversations with him over the phone and online..

They say the holidays are a time of giving. I have sold Ed and other members a few of my air rifles over the years. Most of them I have had help on from my mentor, Bob Werner, aka Charlie Da Tuna, CDT. Well as you have read from Ed's post I had given him the RWS 94 that I had just purchased and did a full tune on. It really makes me happy that Ed can make use of the 94. Most of my shooting is paper and the RWS 94 was a bit on the big side for me as well as being quite powerful. I did not need another cannon in my collection per say...:)
With that said, the reasoning behind giving away the RWS 94 to my best friend and oldest GTA member was quite simple. As most all of you know Ed found out about 6 months ago that he had an inoperably brain tumor. He had been going in for treatments for months and what I understand it has stopped growing and is in remission at this time. Along with that his wife's mother has had numerous heart operations which lead him and his wife to move from there home in South Dakota to move near her mother during this long ordeal. Even as I spoke to Ed last week his mother in law was had been in the ICU for a week this last time. All this has caused a great deal of burden on Ed and his wife and family. Ed never complains and always exhibits a positive attitude with everything. I admire that in a person and always will. Where Ed lives now the jobs are drying up as well because most of the area is supported by GMC factories and the vendors that support them. Many people are out of work including Ed. With his constant up keep of medicine and regular visits to the hospital for periodic testing to see if the tumor is still dormant, not mention the drugs he has to take and his family really cannot afford the luxury of buying many things that we take for granted. It has been over a year since Ed has been able to purchase a new air rifle. He does have his small collection that he hunts regularly with but still Ed reads every day on the GTA where others have just bought a new air rifle and he is always there to make a positive post about it.
So sending Ed the RWS 94 will make his holidays much nicer. He now has a new hunting rifle and he can do what he loves best, Hunt! My only regret is not having something to send to his wife as well. She got to sit there while Ed opened his gift from me and watch the expression of joy when he opened up that box....:) I am happy to give something I have to someone so very deserving as Ed.
All I can say Ed, is enjoy your new baby and give us lots of pictures of what you take down with her. She could not be in better hands...:)

I knew that already though . haha . and thanks for the update on Ed's condition, I had wondered how he was doing , I'll keep the prayers a coming . Happy Holidays to all. kirby

Wow....that`s fantastic. Gene`s one of a kind.

What a decent thing to do! And that's one nice rifle. I know 'cause I looked long and hard at it before you bought it. As to his wife, she got to see the look on his face when he received it. For someone with a husband who just had a close shave, that smile was probably worth more than gold. My father in law was diagnosed with liver cancer summer before last and given six months. Through some new radiation therapy, he has managed to live a quality life and is looking forward to his second "extra" Christmas. I know that my mother in law would feel doubly blessed if he received such a generous gift and take comfort in knowing he has such great friends.
Right on with your bad self, Santa!

That was a grand thing to do Gene. God Bless you and your family.

I cannot express it enough what that means to me coming from my buddy and dear friend. :) It does seem like my whole family is taking med's for one thing or another around here but were all pushing forward with lot's of Prayer and the Lord never gives you anything that you can't handle, he carries the heavy stuff. He has also blessed me with a loving wife and friend's like Gene and also the entire GTA family. :) Ed

Just wanted to add my .02, that this is one of the coolest things I have read on this or any forum. That is a beeyootiful little rifle and it could not be in deadlier hands. A Shadow/Cometa team in the woods is a frightful prospect for game to contemplate.
What a fantastic and thoughtful act. Amazing story and Gene is a great guy!
