With all my babies up and running strong again it was time to take the 94 for her first hunt with me.:) I was already to head out to Squirrel City, truck was warming up and my gear sitting by the door when the wife said "There's a squirrel on my feeders dear". I was kinda shocked since they don't come to the feeders around here ,the death zone so to speak. I peaked out the window and sure enough there's a big fella stuffing his cheeks with seed so without haste I pulled out the 94 and loaded a Predator then headed for the back door, stealth attack.:) I've taken em from my deck which is 20yrds from the feeder tree but from the back of the house I'll have to add another 10yrds if not more. I silently opened the door and down the step's to the corner of the house, safety off and slowly peeked a eye around the corner. He hadn't noticed a thing just munching away so I inched around the corner and raised her up leveling the iron sight's on him. He had his back to me but I wanted a head shot so made a couple clicking sounds with my mouth and he turned to see what was behind him. That's all that I needed, sights planted on his head and Predator away followed shortly by A "POP" sound as the Predator slammed into his head. Feeder swinging and seed flying as he dropped stone dead to the ground with not even a twitch. I didn't bother to reload, he was down so I stepped out some yard's which came to 26, I'm not to rusty with the iron sight's lol. I was very excited to take this nutter since this one was for Gene and he's a big buck so with the 94's first harvest I grabbed some pic's and dressed him out.:) The days still young so I might still head for Squirrel City to hopefully snag another.:) Ed

Good shooting on open sights Ed!
If you remember I took most of the nutters with open sights last season :-) So this kill is dedicated to Gene? So when you are eating him and drinking your beer, you 'll raise your glass and say "this is for you Gene"? hehehe or Gene visiting you to taste what's his? :-)
-
Thanks Harry I'll put the nutter on ice and send him off to my buddy.:) Ed
-
Thanks Ed for the nutter...:) Only regret is not being at your house for dinner.. hehe Great shot buddy with them open sights. I know Vince can appreciate a good set of Iron sites..:) Your the man buddy and thanks againfor the nutter and pictures...:)
-
Great shot, Ed. We all knew you wouldn't wait too long to put the 94 to work. That's a pretty fat looking squirrel. But if that's a grey squirrel, he looks a bit jaundiced (LOL). Is that a bit of snow left on the ground?
-
I just noticed how big & fat this nutter is Ed, and it seems most of the ones you harvested are about that big. Your squirrels must have a a pretty good gene pool over there or abundand food sources.
-
Thanks again for the FANTASTIC SHOOTER Gene . Yup he is a big guy and we still have a touch of snow on the ground, more coming next week. I'm still keeping my eye's peeled for some Grays but we have no shortage of Fox Squirrels around here.:) Ed
-
Nice fat nutter Ed. That fella didn't know where he was. That is like a someone breaking into Tom Knapps house. Great shooting with the open sites.
-
Thanks Dan I think the other nutters put him up to it " Go ahead to the feeder's, it's safe and we'll be right behind you......PROMISE!. LOL. Ed
-
Yes that's right Harry you were popping em with open sights left and right, hope the Condor hasn't spoiled you now hehehe. Ed

Great shot buddy and a beautiful nutter and rifle !! You and that shooter are gonna do a number on the nutter population for sure in the years to come :)
I must admit I envy your skill with iron sights. My poor old eyes just don't shoot iron the way they used to...... If I focus on the sights to make them clear then the target is fuzzy,,,,,, if I focus on the target then the sights are fuzzy,,,,,,, oh well,,,,,, what I need is to get a nutter to pose for me right at the end of the barrrel :)

Nice shot & gun. Nothing better than a dead critter
-
Thanks Peter between the silky smooth and powerful RWS 94 from my friend Gene and the Predator the nutter didn't stand a chance.:) Ed
-
Ed, Awesome shot! You sure do grow em big in your neck of the woods! That may be one of the biggest nutters I've ever seen!
-
Yep, he`s a big one that`s for sure. Excellent shot with open sights from your RWS 94.
-
Thanks guys and he's a biggie, when I dressed him out there's lot's of meat on that carcass.:) Ed
-
Nice photos and indeed a beautiful rifle, Ed. I envy your ability to use the open sights. Always loved them, but like Jeff have the same focusing problem. BTW, what’s the length of the rifle? If that wasn’t an exceptionally large squirrel, compared to it, you’ve got one cute sized gun.
-
Thanks Garen and the overall length is 45.00". Ed
-
Thanks, Ed.
I thought about something closer to 40". So itwas a big squirrel.
-
BIG squirrel but he didn't stand a chance against the RWS 94 and Predator.:) Ed
-
Peggin em as always Ed...I dont think ....Hell I know I couldnt make a open sighted shot anymore...It Seems wierd even trying to get a sight picture in my mind, I close my eyes and I see Mil-Dots...lol.
-
Thanks Brent I got to keep all my skill option's open hehehehe. The RWS 94 is a impressive shooter, lotsa power and thank the Lord that I still have good peeper's.:) Ed
