Finally! I have been waiting about 3 months for this squirrel and finally got rid of him today. He climbed in a pine tree about 65 yards away, yes 65 yards. I have my gun zeroed in for 20 yards, but also know that at 50+ yards my gun shoots 3 mil-dots high. So, I put the 3rd mil-dot on him, and squeeze the trigger gingerly. I heard a VERY loud THWACK, and he drops to the ground DRT. He didn't flinch at all. He is a good size, been waiting a long time to get a clear shot on him from this distance. Also, once again the kodiak went all the way through him. So far, 65 yards is now my longest shot for a squirrel or bird. And here are pics!
Dead, as he fell. Notice the EXIT woundin the middle of his back about 3/4 of the way from his head; this is not the entrance wound.

Here is the entrance wound, quite a mess.

AF Condor, 65 yards measured, shroud by Tony, and .22 kodiak on PW 6 at about 950fps.
Thanks!

Yup,,, I guess that combination would certainly get the job done !! :)
Even with a Condor that's a fine shot for sure on such a small target,,, my hat is off to you sir :)

Good shooting. I responded to your post on the TAG.
BTW, does your Condor shoot faster at PW setting 8 or 10? cause mine at PW 6 shoots the Kodiaks much faster than 950..(with a 2500psi fill) oh probably because I have a heavier hammer/striker.. mine actually makes max. power at PW setting 8. 10 or 12 don't make a difference.

Harry, my condor shoots between 950-1,000fps on a 2300psi fill, my scuba tank is low on air and I haven't had the chance to refill it yet so can't fill my condor to 3000psi. At 3000psi, I get about 1100fps on PW 6. Mine shoots max at PW 12. I have stock valve and hammer, although the valve is the newer one that AF came out with.
Thanks Jeff. I was surprised to hit him. It literally sounded like someone dropped an encyclopedia or other heavy book on him, was the loudest impact I have ever heard! It made more noise than shooting into a pellet trap or through 2 2x4's! Must have hit him just right since he didn't budge an inch after impact. He was dead right there (DRT). No flinching or anything. I think at that range the pellet still had around 25fpe of energy, based on comparisons between it and my 16fpe Gamo Hunter 220.

Great Shot!!

That is a great shot!!!!!!!!!

Nice shot but now that you have shot the last squirrel on L.I. what do you have left to shoot at? I grew up on L.I. 50 years ago and I remember squids were far and few between. If I got two in a season I was doing pretty good.
-
wow that shot was like hammering that nutter to a tree with a steel nail,he didnt even have time to confess.
-
Holy...great shot at 65 yards!!!! Never knew what hit him.....
-
Thanks everyone! I am surprised I hit him at that distance, 65 yards is a long shot for an air rifle. However, I believe that my condor could cleanly kill a squirrel out to 100 yards. I did a velocity test at 65 yards and was getting around 25fpe of energy at that range with kodiaks, more fpe than most springers.
The impact was the loudest thing I have heard, it really sounded like someone hit him with a baseball bat, I am not kidding! Those kodiaks sure do pack a punch... Now when his friend comes he is no longer safe since I know that 65 yards is easily manageable with the condor.

Nothing like a dead nutter at any distance. Outstanding shot.
