can someone please chime in on what do i need to tune a winchester 1000sb .177 its rough on the breakbarrel and rubs its loud like a powed .22 and boy does it kick like a mule.its new and only 20 or30 pellets through her is that normal the trigger pull is like 5lbs but man its powerful has a frame like the panther...

Shoot at least another 200 pellets through it. If it still sounds like a .22 rimfire then you need to change the seal probably. While you are in there changing the seal do a debur and lube.

one bit of advice, make sure you are calm when you work on it...putting that trigger group together is gonna annoy the crap outta you.

Just a thought,,,,,, did you clean the barrel first ??????
When I bought my Winchester 1000 the first thing I did, and always do with a new rifle, is clean the barrel. You wouldn't believe the stuff that came out of the barrel !!

i clean the barrel when i frist got it with balistol and work fine after 4 cleaning pells, it came out clean but its the noise it has ,its loud like a 22 rimfire pyramid rates it a 4 for noise but i tell u its powerful and accurate but loud could it be that thats normal for this type. im gonna lube it debur it and fill the stock with expanding foam this week to see the outcome, its not even broken it yet. this is my first project thanks to this forum and you guys i will be confident that i could do it ....im gonna put 200 more pells in her first.

Mine doesn't now, nor did it ever, sound like a .22 rimfire. If it's that loud and you've cleaned the barrel well then I would follow Genes suggestion and change the seal if it doesn't clear up soon....
About the only thing I did to mine was clean it up and fill the stock, but I never had a dieseling problem like you're describing....

Just keep shooting pellets through it. Use cheapo Daisy/Crosmans for the break in period. Be careful with expanding foam (Great-Stuff, etc.), it may warp or bulge the stock out of shape. Dense packaging foam cut up into little squares and stuffed into the stock will give you the same effect, and pack even tighter. And you can easily remove some of it to balance the gun better if too much is used. Don't know what pellets you are using, but if they are the "lead-free" crap that Gamo and Crosman are marketing, then that might be why the gun is firing off like a .22 RF. Stick with 7.9 grain pellets for at least the first 1000 rounds. Avoid LeadFree pellets like the clap!!! JMHO, tjk

You can get a lot of information from these two web sites. http://webpages.charter.net/guru1/index.html That one is a tuning guide for the 1000X Winchester and http://www.network54.com/forum/392756/ is a forum for the Daisy Winchester 1000X, 800X, 600x. I have two of the 1000X Winchesters and while I am on the subject, you can't beat Daisy's custermer service. Excellent is the best word to describe it. My first rifle was with the composite stock which broke up. Daisy couldn't match the stock, when I sent it to them, so they sent me another rifle, free of charge. I bought a walnut stock , like the one that came with the new rifle, from Daisy. Had to do a bit of inletting but the stock fit like a glove,on the first rifle, and so I now have two 1000X Winchester Rifles. I have tuned the first but haven't gotten to the second one yet and yes they are rough out of the box. Best of luck with your rifle.

Ray, If the Talon is a .177, I would recommend using the CPL heavies. Also if your 1250 is a .177 I would recommend the same. Reason for sparks coming out of barrel is because of the high fps they are shooting. If you have recently tuned them then shoot some more with the CPL heaviesand run swab through again. As far as working on the 1250 it is impossible to get the springs and seals for them. And I really do not plan on tuning any Gamo 1250's in the future unless something drastically changes with the parts availability. The Talon parts are available but I think I have worked on the last one of thsee as well...:)
