I'll admit it...I've been a bit depressed lately, since I havn't seen anything moving about in a few weeks. But after some new found confidence in my rifle (RWS350) this afternoon,(See my thread in the Air Gun Gate) In what my rife could do to pellets at 100 yards, I decided to go looking for some longer distance targets. While driving slowly through some local vinyards, I saw several Jack Rabbits. Most were way out there, at least 150+ yards away, so I didn't even bother. But I did get a bead on one that was just a hare (hehe pun intended) short of 75 yards. I was loaded with a Crosman Premier Hollow point, and let this guy have it! It struck his skull just behind the eye, and blood was pouring out his nose, and ear. He just sort of fell over. When I got close to him he kicked his hind legs, and that was it. It was over. I put another pellet in his head just to make sure he wasn't suffering. Not even a flinch. My dry spell has ended...for now. I plan to go back in the morning and see what's lurking.

Outstanding shooting Jonathan,,,,, 75 yards is a shot to be proud of for sure. Great pic too,,, that's an impressive kill. Way to go :)
What you said is so true,,,, having confidence in yourself and your rifle makes all the difference in the world....
I'll definitely be looking forward to more hunting pics from you and that 350...

wow nice shot. How much holdover did you apply?
-
Awesome 75yd shot Johnathan! Wow, I 've never shot anything that far.. yet. Soundls like you have that 350 all figured out. That's some great shooting and a great bunny.

After my long range (100 yd) testing this afternoon, I adjusted my scope to 60 yards, figuring I wouldn't get closer than that to anything. So my holdover was about 2", maybe a little less.

Looks like you put a good smackin' on that bunny...do I detect a little eye bulge on the off-side? I'm sickly curious to see that pellet in a close up...but is that just me?

Holey rabbit....that RWS 350 sure got the muscle to get the job done....with you behind the trigger. Great long distance shot and hunting story.

Thanks everybody! I too was happily suprised to "reach out and touch" a Jack at that distance. I had actually shot at another at that distance, but missed over it's head. I saw him lay down as if to duck. Then he ran out of range before I could give him a taste of the lead. The one in the picture started out at a much closer range, probably 30 yards, then ran away from me, and at about 75 yards, made a 90 degree turn to the right, ran 4 rows over, and stopped. That's when I airmailed him my calling card. I thought for sure I'd lose him. Plus, it was getting harder to see, since the sun had dissapeard into the clouds, and it was almost sunset.

You gonna eat that, or can I have it? LOL
"Be vewwy quiet. I'm hunting wabbits."

OUTSTANDING! shot Jonathan:) and pic's too, the eye bulge tells the story for sure. Confidence is a major factor in taking a shot and I'm a big believer in that, if it doesn't feel Zen don't shoot another shot will present itself if not today then tomorrow. Again GREAT shot and pic's.:) Ed
