The Question is do I plug the barrel with something to stop the nickle from getting in and if so what do I plug it with?

I've not tried any plating, but I would imagine you would want to plug it with a rubber stopper or some kind of wax. Post pics when you're done, this should be interesting.

Yes plug the ends with rubber stoppers. Also make sure the finish is perfect any blems will magnified.

Unless you have a gun with an oversized bore. I have one that could use a few thousandths build up of nickel or chrome to keep the pellets from falling out.
