While I was sleeping... I had a few beers yesterday and fell of my guard, I went to bed early and the Mrs. took point. Thinkin my small heard of buck tooth deck deer was safe. I should have known better..
Well was awoken in the wee hours of the night by a very excited woman wielding a long pistol. Hunny I got one, come look. Thats nice dear, can I look in the morning? No come get it now before the dogs do. So I got up and went to get him. WOW ear shot, verry impressive hunny, good shootin.
After further examination of his lifeless body I found he had been shot before.. You can see the healed over scar on his side.. a graze shot to where he barly escaped death..
It was still in the scaby stage so it had to be a recent incident and I'm supprised he was back out for more of that treatment..

Randall, you have to let Mrs Quest join the GTA and let her make her own hunting posts..:) Sounds like she really likes to shoot dim pistola's. So get her signed up buddy and let us hear in her words how excited she is to be a sniper...:)

Give it time Gene... I have got her to shootin, and she has blood on her hands now.. I won't be long before she want to tell her story,s.

That is outstanding,,, congrats to the Mrs.
I think you should run that monster over to the taxidermist and have it done up for her,,,, how much could it possibly cost :D
Seriously though,,, tell the Mrs. she's a fine shot and I agree with Gene,,,,, she should become a member and tell the story of the kill in her own words cause she's an official member of the GTA hunt club now :D

Guys Mrs. Quest. [ Linda ] is a very shy 59 year old woman. I am working on her to join and play with us..
She will come around soon, probally when she holds house record again..

Randall, it looks like the Mrs. is very determined and a very good shot! She 's taking advantage of you snoozing and wacking those rats behind your back! hehehe. I love the competition between you two. If she used "your Ding Dong" to get this rat, then it doesn't count! She must use hers. Come'on you gotta have some rules :)
I 'd like you to keep a score card to see who is ahead :emoticon:
BTW, you are very lucky to have her as your wife. Mine gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, but afterwards she goes to the other room just to shut the window, unbeknownst to me, which I keep open after 10pm in hopes of shooting another big night critter from there without being detected. It seems she doesn't want me to shoot any more racoons and she doesn't even know about the 2nd one. Quite the opposite of your wife, so count your blessings!

Harry I am blessed with this woman.. she doesn't like the rats and will readily shoot them.. alas tho the supply has been dwindeling..down to a kill every other week or so.. so..I was doing an internet search for breeding stock and it turns out that we live right in the middle of the best stuff here in Texas... Everything is bigger in Texas. There are a few different variaty's of them to choose from and I think I am going for the Norwegian tree rat strain... Black and big.. A bigger chalenge at night because they look like shadows.. they love tree's and will openly attack when confronted..
The texas roof rat is grey and gets up to 20 " with good management, but I need fast growth and they are slow growers..
Lastly, the Eastern sewer rat does well here and are prolithic breeders, their main drawback is small size tho.. So a record kill would be out of the question unless we were breed specific..
I WASN'T AS MAD AT HER FOR USING MY DING DONGER AND GUN AS I WAS FOR HER SHOOTIN A CRIPPLE... LOL :emoticon:

Don't let those Norwegian tree rats breed with those feral hogs you have down there. If you do you'll need a bigger gun and a trail camera.

I got a little background story for you guys on Mrs JQ. The breaux came over to Gods country here in Louisiana one year for a big party I was throwing and brought the missus. The party died down and we was all just sittin out by the pool. This was WAY before JQ knew what an air rifle was so I drug out the ole trusty TX200 with the 6.5x20 Leupold scope and set up a knock down target on my diving board about 22 yards away, 1/2 inch kill zone. I dropped it several times showing off to the company. JQ at the time wouldn't have nothing to do with a "BB gun" so he just sat there spouting indignant comments on how "those are toys, get a REAL gun!"
Well Mrs JQ spoke up and said "Let me try." I thought to myself 'oh crap, what if she misses and pokes a hole in my pool?' What the heck. Let her give it a shot. I handed the TX to her and was about to explain which end to point toward the target when she gave me that look......You know, the kind Rambo has just before he dispatches and enemy combatant, and then proceeded to hit dead center on the target on the first shot. So I'm thinking to myself. Well I did already have it sighted in, heck anybody could drop it........
But no.. She said "Move it over there, the pool light is in my eyes, and procedded to drop it yet again at 25 yards.
I put up my stuff and went to bed.

Timmy and me were thinking again Randall..:) We could send you a crate of fresh live rats for Mrs Quest to have around for target acquisitions. We would make sure we go the hybrid rats that are at least 12" long. I understand that rats are very prolific and Mrs Quest would have lots of targets to shoot at in the future..:)
