23rd December 2008, the family are asleep in bed (having finished work & school for the holidays) & it’s just after 8.00 a.m. & I finish my coffee & realise I (who hasn’t finished work) am about to be late having become a bit too engrossed in the T.V.
So into the kitchen with the coffee cup & looking out the back door something catches my eye.
Tree Weasel on the bird feeder!
Still in my dressing gown, I slide the B26 out of its cover & load up a Superdome & slide myself through the side door. The Weasel sees me but is unconcerned & continues to attack the bird feeder.
I kneel (so the neighbours can’t see me), raise the rifle, shoot &…. a clean miss!
Damn, when it’s not been shot in a while the first shot sometimes goes a little high & today was no exception.
So I reload, quick as you like, & find the weasel has gone 5 yards back & another 5 yards left & is sitting in some hazel either pondering his near death experience or is transfixed, unable to resist the lure of a feeder full of peanuts.
He’s in profile, so I site up on his shoulder (just in case the second one goes a bit high too & it would then take him through the head or neck) & unleash the .22 Superdome.
For a second, nothing happened….he just sat there & I started to think I’d missed again. But then, just for a moment he shivered & then fell stone dead to the floor without so much as a twitch
Point of impact is right where I put the crosshair. Straight through the pump-room & out the other side, clearly trashing both heart & lungs on its path & there being hardly any bleeding from the entry & exit holes.
Can’t leave dead bodies lying around as the wife doesn’t like it, so bag him up & throw him in the boot of the car as one to sort out later! LOL
The scopes are my Christmas present to myself, a Walther 4x12x50 Centre illuminated Mildot, 30mm tube AO/IR on some Leapers Accushot mounts.
At current exchange rates the scopes would be about $74.00 US or £50.00 sterling, brand new & boxed courtesy of ebay (though I’ve seen them on retail sites at double the price).
The good news is traffic was light & I made it to work on time.

nice work on that nutter! that b26 sure does dish out some nice medicine to em, huh?

Great shooting and a super pic. The nutter almost looks likes he's "hugging" the rifle with an expression of love :)

Good shot and nice gun. P

Fine tweaked the scope earlier today @ 25 meters (27.3 yards) albeit bench rested, it's punching the cr*p out of dime-sized target centers.
More to do with the gun & the optics than the nut behind the butt. LOL
Only needed a couple of clicks to get it spot-on
I also have a Walther 3x9x40 AO/IR Duplex ret' on a TF99 & that does a pretty good job too.
It was just a chance to finally post a pic & an opportunity to send seasons greetings from Merry England to y'all over the water.
Best wishes & may your God go with you.

Nice shootin stevie.. great story and pics of your nutter...

Great shooting Steve! Yep you have to be mindful of that first "cold" shot that tends to usually shift the POI a little higher.
I love morning hunts when I can make it to work on time or before the family is up and has no clue what I was up to 8)
Enjoy the Holidays.

He's all settled down for a long Winter's nap alright...congratulations on your new scopes, and merry Christmas.

Great shooting with the B26 and it's new Walter scope. Too bad for the nutter that he didn't heed your "warning" shot....
