well Ronbeaux and I had a blast... Altho only small woodsy birds were killed, it was fun.. I did see a coon withe night vision and took a shot.. I hit him, really I did, but it wasn't a fatal fusebox hit. I think I clipped a twig and it hit him in the back.. he fell over then got up and ran off..
It was a super hard hunt with ron in the hide next to mine, I my opinion it would have been quieter if he would have just brought his tool box and a big hammer.. Art was quiet as a mouse in my tent, its a double but ron was set up 5 feet beside in his single wide and with shooting table, bench rest, beer cooler, numerous electronic devises, cell phone, [which rang 3 times while we were night hunting lol ] and half bottle wild turkey..
In my stand was chair, tripod, gun, extra pellets...
Here are some pics for my GTA buds to ponder on..
I would like ya to get a look at the stairway to nowhere. 250 steps down at a steep angle to get to the boat house.. luckilly there is a cooler down there with beer in it so ya can get refreshed befor the 4 stop climb back up..
Also a look at the living rooms trophy kills....
enjoy my friends.

Wow you did this on Christmas day? Nice excursion with friends!
It sounds like Ron brought more beer, booze and modern communications equipment than he did pellets! :o
Is there something beyond those crosshairs? I hope you didn't cant the gun like that when you shot the racoon.. did you? Your POI would have been way off to the side. Did you guys use any calls or just bait? What gun did you use on that coon? Nice secluded area. I would 've cancelled the trip though just because of those stairs! heheh

Harry its hard to hold the camera to the scope and take a pic so no I didn't shoot the coon canted over like that... Its on a tx200... we thru corn out on the ground for weeks before the hunt but the weather changed on us christmas day, so the night was not perfect conditions.. i got there christmas morning and stayed till late today.. 1/2 hour after I got home my mom called me and sait Travis my 17 year old nephew just shot a deer out of my hide with his crossbow.. that was about an hour ago....
The place is wonderfulll and the NV scope lights them up like a light bulb... Art my BIL was sitting im my hide and I had mooved to Rons after he went back to the house.. Art sait when I turned it on he could see the coons eyes without any light, just my infrared illuminator was bright enought to light him up...
If there was an animal in any of my NV pics you would know it... I'm just trying to get the hang of photo's thru it when i post them here... soon I willl get you guys some eyes in a pic... I could see him as plain as day except his eyes were flashlights... hehe 8)

I'm in love! That place is awesome! Nice Beer/water ratio in the fridge too. Beeing somewhat of a carpenter, i really like the staircase. Although, In my shape, I don't thing I'd want to climb them that often. I'm sure you had a great time! Thanks for sharing.

Ed it was wonderfull.. You know I'm stuck here in the big city and don't get ta play in the woods often..
Its exactly 99.8 miles from my door to hers, so I think I'm going to plan some more excursions that way soon... While we were sitting in the pop up hides the deer would come by and snort and run off. The hogs didn't come out the 1 night I had there tho.. I did do me some bird sniping with my S410 and they didn.t stand a chance. Some of those little woodsy birds are no bigger than a match box, but it would cream thier feathered little body's at 30+ yards no problem...
I really need to get out like this more often...

I know what you mean Randall! I can definitely use an outing like that. You are really lucky especially when doing it with friends.

Those pic's want to make a grown man cry... seeing a fridge full of beer and hunting to boot.

Yea Timmy ronbeaux is something else.. he took me head to head with his tx 200 springer against my AAs410
and it got down to a quarter inch dot on the 32 yard target before it got rough on him... he is 1 hell of a shot.. Of coarse i was shootin off a tripod to make it fair but he was a bear.... you can see the tape on his gun for the clicks. he knows his *_*_*_*_*_*t....
good times.. wish ya could have been there bud...

What a great time we had hunting together at the lake house!
But let me clear a few things up.
1. The shooting match we had was AFTER I swapped over to the 32 Burris and only took three practice shots for sight in. So the 1/4" shot was not an easy one for sure.
2. Hunting next to JQ is like hunting next to Ray Charles. I would see and drop the game before he even got his gun out the window, and that's with me popping a fizzy and answering the phone. He made the BIL call time to keep it fair.
3. PLUS. I lugged all the gear down to the stands. 3 chairs, a bench rest, an ice chest, my gun, some night vision, two tins of pellets........... I was breathing hard for 30 minutes after we landed and was also thirsty. So back off on the noise making JQ!!
AND, I wasn't the only one popping fizzies

JQ's hunting style is also a little lame in the camo department.
And here is the view while I was supposedly making noise.

Breaux had to leave and missed out on the big feed using the BIL's new South Texas Grill

He also missed out the championship game of 'Horse' we played using the TX and the HW. College boy(my Son) and I played a game at 22yds where you call your shot and the closest wins. We had lots of ties shooting at a 1/4" dot drawn on the cardboard target.
Of course JQ is saying if he would have been there it would have been ON!
And on a side note. Both me and the BIL had our phones set to speed dial 911 when JQ took the stairs to' nowhere' thinking he might not make it back up. He called me three times asking for directions back to the top. "Are we there yet??" Are we there yet"
-
And another thing. While we were down at the 'hides' there were 4 squirrels playing in Sis's front yard that are classified as "Pets" and therefore untouchable. That shot of me at the bench is just before I pulled on a spider crawling up the target. Splat.

Thanks for your side of the story Ron! hehehe. There 's always 2 sides right? That BBQ looks mouth watering good.
Randall! You went hunting with a white shirt? :o I 'm speechless.. did you think this was going to be like a rat shoot? heheh.
-
Eyeballin the wood's again Randall, I see a cool camo coming around for your shooter. :) Ed
